Do you "own" your username?

My username is used mostly by hot emo girls on assorted websites for some reason... This is odd, considering I came up with it at age 4 and I'm a guy. Also, theres some cook on Abovetopsecret with it too.

I think I need a new name.

I've never considered owning my username, but a quick Google search revealed that I'm in 7 out of the top 10. Apparently, Eleima is also a "real" first name, and so a few Facebook pages popped up. Imagine that! (I picked it because it's an anagram, and thought it sounded roleplay-ee: "eh-leh-EE-mah").

I have had two user names. On some of the other forums (Pandemic Studios when it was still up) and a few personal sites from people I know I used the name Yankee Hater. I in no way owned that, if you were to google it you got several thousand responses of Boston Red Sox Pages. This one is slightly more unique so I have the first few responses now.

Apparently some dickhole called Justin stole my username for Twitter though. I'll have him killed later.

OT: Most of the actual Ironic Pirate seems to be me, although apparently it's a book genre as well ("It's not an Ironic Pirate novel..."). Most of the other stuff is "Isn't it ironic that pirates..."

For those of you who usually use the same username on different sites, what happens when you Google it? Have you reached the point where the majority of results are from you registering it, not some "impostor"?

And for those of you who're buried in obscurity, do you wish you'd been as smart as Randall Munroe and picked something as unique as "xkcd" when you made up your name at age 12?

As for me, I was surprised to find myself occupying 50% of the top 10. But I do wish it was more unique, cause dudes keep beating me to it on registrations.

I just typed my handle in Google and I found that I'm mentioned in 100% of the results.
That's awesome.
That's 20 pages worth and I can safely say I 100% own my username.

Well I kinda do. Some places already have a Trebort, so I sometimes need to add a couple of numbers. It's not even like I really like the name, but I used it once in a rush and it's stuck. It's my first name Robert backwards with the initial of my last name stuck on the end.

I usually get to use Trebort on most sites, so I'm guessing I kinda own it?
