Do you "own" your username?

Apparently, mine is very unique. So far, 100% of all the google results I searched were me (though I only went like 3 pages into it)

I do have an alternate ID I use in some places though, which is far from unique.

Well, when I stick my name into google, I only get 3 results back, two of them are from these forums and the other one...well I can't find my name in it, but apparently it's related. So yeah, I guess I do own this name.

Unless of course you google it with spaces in which case obviously Dune comes up rather a lot.

Google Kermi or Kermitron, you'll get me. Other people do use the name or variants, but I'm the most prolific. It's very rare for me to not get Kermi, even rarer for me to not get Kermitron if I resort to it as a backup.

I have in once case surrendered a rightfully registered kermi username to someone else because they contacted me about my disused account and asked nicely. It says less about my attachment to the name and more about my attachment to the community it was registered at (deviantart - I had registered in 2003 and not visited since 2004).

Every single page on a Google search for my name comes up with things for me. Half of that, however, is all for the Warcry network. And while there may be two unrelated hits on the first page, that's because it's suggested nevermore. Not the screwed up version I have.

First search result is my Escapist account. My Steam, TV Tropes, and various other accounts are down there too. Yup, I own this name. And there's some recipes dealing with fruits in the results, too. Maybe I'll check those out sometime.
