No, post count doesnt matter

Ive been here since before Yahtzee even had a show on the website but I dont even have 1000 post yet(Also I am on the gaming and off topic forums just about every day I just rarely find it worth the effort to post anything due to how much setup it takes for me to post on my PS3 lol)

I try not to, but every now and again when I see someone who's made a point I might not agree with I tend to think of them as moron's at first due to their low post count. That doesn't happen too often and I don't ever talk down to someone based on their post count (at least I hope I'm not doing that)

Oh and it doesn't mean squat. You see all the time, people posting in a thread just to post in it without really adding to the thread value.

For example, any time I see someone with over Ten Thousand posts, I tend to treat them with more respect, since they must have payed attention to the rules and been reasonable to have lasted that long.
Ha! That's a good one.

Anyway, I often look at my own post count, briefly contemplate my own amazingness, before continuing on with my day.

Other than that, I'm more likely to recognise with higher post counts and read what they have to say, but that's about it. People without avatars though: you could quote me every time I take a shit for the rest of my life, and I still would not recognise you when I see you post.

Names are too complex for me to remember, do you hear?!

Sometimes, not often. Post count doesn't automatically mean something. Honestly, though, the health bar lets me know if a guy giving me a hard time is a troublemaker.

You might think that having a high post count makes the person more knowledgeable, but the only difference is that he posted more posts than you.
The fact that some RP topics accept three words as a post or that every post of his has no content doesn't matter to you, because his post count is over 10 thousand. Fine, I can understand it, but I'm not sharing your opinion.

Why? Does it make their posts any more valid? I think it's just silly.
Someone's post number won't change my opinion of their post, unless the thread is about the Escapist itself, but I still like to check 'em out anyway out of interest along with their avatar, user-name and sometimes join-date.

I do occasionally if I notice the avatar often, or if they are on probation or something. But that is pretty much it.

Pay me my respects! I haz only been here for... well, actually 3 years, this is my 3-4 account (not banned, just lost the others)

I don't really pay attention to them too much, to me they are like "Free time counters". The more free time a person has, the higher it's probably going to be. Then again, I want to see it in the tripple figures to make sure it's not a troll.
O_O That is quite a bit for a new account. I can relate, most of my posts are from the first month or so I was on here.

[small]Also, I love your avatar. :D[/small]

I tend to pay closer attention to a user's join date as opposed to their post count.

I don't treat people who've been around longer with more respect but I figure they know the site and the community better than someone who has been around a month but has 10,000 posts.
This makes more sense to me, to be honest.

I suppose in all fairness it's a combination of both, second to the content of the actual posts he or she is making.

EDIT: I just realized how low my post-count is. >_< And here I was thinking I had some authority.

To be honest the only post count I tend to find relevant is the count of how many times I've seen that person commenting, so I tend to notice some people commenting more than others (eg. Thatguywiththepuns, otherwise known as Hankman)
But then hey, I'm a lurker on <100 posts so I guess my opinion is less valid by the logic of the OP?

I do look, but only look after I've read a post. If the post is a relatively poor one, I'll glance at the post count expecting a low number. If it's not a low number, then I honestly do tend to wonder what the heck is wrong with the poster.

Not really. I'll occasionally peek under a users avatar and see how many posts they have, but I never judge them based on that.

Nope. That's pretty stupid.
I remember maybe two years back, there was this instant douchebag label applied to anyone who openly discriminated by post count.
The reason for this is because it makes new users feel less welcome, which is ostensibly a thing we want to avoid.

I actually don't care about any of that, though, I just think it's dumb to assume someone with a lower post count has less valuable things to say.

If someone's acting extra douchey, I will take a glance at their post count to see if maybe they're new or something.

Nope, I rarley pay any attention to post counts. I don't even know how many times I have posted on The Escapist.
Although when I see someone with a Tweet/Post count of like 25,000 I go into a state of shock momentaraly.

My eyes tend to dart around a lot so they do fall on post count often but I don't think much of it.

I don't do this, and call me out for having a low post count if you will, but I prefer to judge on a little cliche called "Quality not quantity". If someone has 20000 posts, not broken any rules but the points they are making are just absurd and their opinions I can not relate to then i will look down on them, or if there is a low post count person and they seem to have an amazing point with an intellectuals point of view then I will look up to that kind of poster.

I pay attention to the joined date and post count for mine and do rough estimations of how much I post in a day/month, etc.

also I do find it interesting how some people who joins later than me and already has higher post counts than mine.

I don't, but mostly because I tend to recognise the high post-counters by now anyway.

I find that the number generally does correspond to how people act on here, but not enough to treat them differently.

I tend to see people with really high post counts as senior members of the community. As for people with low post counts, I don't really look down on them. Because I was once like them, so that would be somewhat hypocritical of me.
