I prefer the darkness. It hurts my eyes when it is bright. The light of a computer monitor is all I need!!

Also, it is typically cooler at night.
I have the same problem, my eyes are really sensitive to light so I prefer the darkness if I can get away with it. Thankfully I work a lot in the dark or very dimmed lights so I don't have to worry about getting a headache later.

I like both, but I like dark, it's not a mood thing or an emo thing.
I like making my room dark during a faded blue evening, when bits of sunlight sneak through the cracks in my windows (not total darkness), I'll just lay on the floor and listen to that silence, the silence that tells me, just for that moment, that the world is at peace with itself.

Darkness, I guess. It's always been somewhat subconscious to me. Whenever I'm left alone with a group of people, I usually end up talking for a bit, but before I know it, I'm pacing in the shadows.

Light, mainly because while in light, creepers don't spawn.

Light. Too much gloom often gives me a headache or messes with my sense of time. I usually feel better when I get a bit of sunlight or when the lights are on.

I love it when its pitch black apart from a few bright beams of light, like my room early in the morning.

they both have their perks. Stealthy movement is always easier in the dark, but blending in, and moving in urban settings is easier in the light. i like both.

I like the darkness, but when I am not afraid of it. Like laying in my room at 1am with everything turned off....not the pitch black basement with the door closed.

I like my balance. I don't like to much light nor do I like pitch black-darkness.

Depends on how I feel. They both have its benefits but a mixture of both is the best.

For example, I find a setting to be far more beautiful at night if the scenery is lit up. Case-in-Point;

In the Day

At Night

I prefer the light, because even during the day when there is sun light outside I still turn on the lights in my house.

Light of course. I'm a bit afraid of the dark. Only like darkness for getting out of the blaring bright sun and it's heat.

I prefer darkness, there's just something about it that I like. If I do have to have some light to read or something it has to be either sunshine coming through the window or (which I prefer) a lamp with a shade, I just can't stand how bright overhead lights are.

I don't like complete darkness, I usually have my 40 watt desk lamp pointed directly up at the ceiling. besides, if it's pitch black I'm more likely to be eaten by a grue!

First Zork reference I've seen since I joined the Escapist. 50 points for you, sir.

I'd like to find a place with a good balance of the two. And not that bullshit fantasy "balance" where light is dominating the darkness. Seriously fantasy has no idea how the word "balance" is supposed to work.

not too light and not too dark.
