Well being prepared is always a good thing, but the Prepper groups very quickly descend into paranoia, anger, religious obsession and delusions. I'm sure it's just the loudest people but they give the distinct impression armageddon would be their preference, and those are the people who inspire future preppers... quite unsettling.
And to be honest most of these will gladly spend a fortune on 15 versions of titanium sporks, but not actually learn basic camping skills which is about 99% of what you really need in a disaster situation.
