Mostly trades but last year a wonderful little comic book shop in my town opened up so I'm collecting some single issues as well.
Do you purchase single issue comic series, wait for the trades, or both?

I try to avoid paying for comics, as a rule.
Various stuff is available online for free...GW, for example, used to have a nice habit of just sticking old stuff they weren't selling anymore for free download on their website. Though, they've stopped that now, and I'd already bought lots of it in hard copy anyway.
Alternatively, got lots of old Phantom comics second hand for almost nothing a while back.

I tend to wait for paperback, hence I got into the habit of buying comics once or twice a year, but in large amount.
I love reading them all in one go, plus they're so much cheaper and are easier to store.
