Depends, if it's an exceptionally cool helmet I'll wear it. Usually I don't, in Oblivion I tend to wear a hood/cloak (from a mod). I like my characters to have the travelling adventurer feel, so I'm big on cloaks.

I've never thought of not wearing a hat in rpg games, I play world of warcraft and I always just went for the stat boost but now I think about it, it wdnt make much of a difference :)
In WoW you can just choose not to display it. Having an empty slot will get you nothing but trouble, especially the head (with meta gems).

OT: Usually, yes. I'm a min-maxer for the most part, though I have occasionally gone more role-playey in Oblivion, having my character wear a different set of clothes when in cities and around people, and then don armour once alone.

I always hide it if there's an option. If there isn't then I just don't wear any, unless the stats are really good. I don't spend an hour customising the face of my character just to put a tin can on his/her head for the rest of the game.

Nope. The most I've ever had on in a game is a hood, headband, or a beanie.

I usually do, it's a realism thing for me. It bothers me when main characters don't wear their helmets because they're too cool.

If the helmet is actually visible then no, I hate helmets. I want to be able to see my character's face. I'll put on a hat or a hood, but no helmets.

If you don't wear a helmet now, you'll have to when the brain damage settles in.

Heads make such juicy targets. Games need to enforce that kind of thing: not having a helmet gives you penalties against stunning and such. Then your helmet can protect against it, and resistance to critical hits, that kind of thing. Then just add a button that lets you remove or appear to not be wearing the helmet so you can pretend your character's face is important to other people.

Only if they are badass helmets that look evil and are part of the set/looks alike. I don't bother wearing them otherwise.

I do if I need the protection. But mostly, I'll pick an aesthetically pleasing hat instead.

I like hats.
Yeah pretty much this. I remember in Oblivion, if I was going into a dungeon or on a mission I'd wear a helmet (If I could find one that didn't look like shit, anyways), but at all other times I'd just trudge around the world with my leather or fur armor, since they were the coolest looking armor, and a brown hood that I bought for 10gold at Rindir's Staffs.

************ looked pimp.

Short answer: No, I will not wear full-face helmets.
Style over effectiveness.

While playing Mass Effect 2 on insane, I have shepherd the headset thing (kinda like a helmet) becuase it gave a small stat bonus. So in short, I will wear it if i gives me the edge i need to overcome a situation

I almost never puts helmets on.

I like to be able to see my characters face. Helmets are kinda bland and impersonal, don't allow you to see facial expressions, and a lot of the time simply just aren't all that aesthetically pleasing.

Vanquish, Dead Space, the Scout helmet from Halo Reach, and the Death Mask from ME2 are about the only helmets I actually like.

I never put helmets on my characters unless they look visually pleasing. I like being able to see my characters--especially in dialog. When the helmet is automatically removed in dialog, it's fine and I'll wear one occasion.

A few defense points don't really put me off.

I will unless its covers up the character too much or just looks stupid

and in Mass Effect 2 I remember wishing i could take the helm off the blood dragon armor so I could actually see shepherd and his voice wouldn't sound like a phone conversation.

In Mount&Blade:Warband, I had a shocking realization.

I had full platemail, crafted by the best armorsmiths in all the land, accompanied by gloves that could make the angel's hands look like sandpaper.
With a mastercrafted saber that would slice through armored tanks like butter, and a bow that shoot past the SUN!

Oh, and a beret. I had a beret.

No, I don't usually wear helmets.

If the helm comes off when my character talks, such as in DA:O, yes.
If it doesn't, such as in ME2, then no.
