I will usually recognize someone by their avatar so I will usually not recognize them for a couple of days after they change their avatar.

Hmm...
I recognise some people by name and avatar, but most people just by avatar.

Mind you, Marter had me all confused when he changed his avatar haha. The legend.

People who I actually have talked to: Name

Random people who I've just seen around the forum: Usually avatar, sometimes name.

By avatar, by name, but most usually the combination of the two. I often even notice when someone changes their avatar.

Yes, I go by avatars.
Never bother to check peoples names since I'm mainly just skimming through the threads - so it's the avatars that gets stuck with me.

I never pay attention to who I'm talking to once I end the conversation, so I never notice people from thread to thread. Mainly because I don't care.

I recognize a lot of names when I see them, but even more avatars when I see them. Few do I remember when I don't see them.
