Hejo !

Some time ago i had close encounter with this happy fellow here.
I thought it was hilarious then, but lately someone suggested that this guy may be venomous and i risked a little by going near him.

Closest spider species i could find was Crossopriza lyoni or Smeringopus pallidus, but they are lacking those horrible chelicerae... :/

So, any arachnophile here willing to help ? :)

Can't really say anything as to the species of the spider, how ever that spider looks kind of like its one and only goal in life is to ruin your fucking day. I like how you are so upbeat about this, because I may not be able to sleep tonight.

No idea what it is.

This happened to a kid I knew once. He had just moved into this house and found this weird looking spider. Researched it and was able to find it online. But it was not found in Canada. Think it was like Europe or Africa or something. Weird.

Don't know what it is exactly, but the moment I saw it it made me think of this little fellow:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amblypygi

Amblypygi or a Whip Spider, seen them in some national geographic show a while back, don't know if it really is said spider, but it looks the part.

After looking through the guide that DerangedMonkey42 posted, it looks like a species of Tetragnathida. Neither the guide nor wikipedia mention anything about it being venomous.

It could be a Tetragnatha nitens or Tetragnatha elongata.

As for dangers I'm pretty sure the risk of dying from a spider bite is quite low as long as you get medical help.

Then again, judging from that picture he looks pretty pissed off so I advise you watch your back...he could have friends.

You don't know Spiders until you've been here in Australia.

Personally, I stay away from spiders and all things crawly. I dont freak out if someone is holding one near me or I see it walk over, but if I feel a bug/spider etc sit on me and startle me, I totally flip out.

....Keep that huge thing away from me though.

She (it's almost definitely a she) looks rather... brittle there... oddly.

Anyway, sorry, mate, can't help, I'm a Formicidae person myself...(!)
