I watched Taken (with Liam Neeson) for the first time a couple nights ago. It's one of the coolest and most plausible action movies I've ever seen. I hear Unknown is even better, can't wait to see it :)

Yeah, I guess I'd recommend Heavy Rain...

OT: R.E.D is a GREAT action movie. I would highly recommend it. The action is good, and old actors know how to act.

Tron Legacy

In short? No

In long? a nightmarishly inconsistent and confused slapshod mess that outright shat all over a chunk of my childhood. Goddamn you Disney, goddamn you.

The last film I watched was Face/Off... Do I recommend it? Yeah, if you like action movies, stylish gun fights and hammy acting then yeah, its a real treat. The film is basically a show case of Cage trying to out ham Travolta and every second it of it is brilliant. Then they throw in some awesome shoot outs that say "fuck you!" to gravity and the laws of physics and you've got one hell of a movie.

Don't think too much about the whole Face/Off thing. This is a pop corn flick not a brain movie. It runs on rule of cool. That being said its still not a dumb action movie, I think John Woo is pretty smart and a good director. I think he's like the mid point between Micheal Mann and Micheal Bay. His films aren't nearly as smart as Micheal Mann's but there nowhere close to as stupid as Micheal Bay's (not that I'm hating on Bay, I actually enjoy his films, there good goofy fun). Theres a good mix of both plot and action here its not a smart film but its not a really dumb movie. John Woo really seems to know what he's doing and some of the shots are excellent.

So yeah I recommend it to all those that want a nice action flick to watch. A must own for any Cage fan.

Yeah, I love that film too. Though I did wish that Neilson would just pick an accent and stick with it.

It is beyond horrible, and I can quote the entire movie by heart, I love it. Go watch it now, Evil Betty commands it.
Warning: it may contain odd sounds

As for the OT, ummm, yeah I'd probably recommend Blade 2. The plot is less straightforward than the other Blade movies and thus more engaging, the action scenes range from good to great, and you can't really go wrong with a vampire Ron Perlman. Sure, Guillermo Del Toro has done way better movies, but it's still worth a watch.

I watched Legend of the Drunken Master for the first time last night. Compared to the two movies I watched before it, Ong Bak and Chocolate, it's solid gold. The action and comedy was very well-balanced, and Jackie Chan is probably the best actor [ever] for that sort of thing. It was funnier than the original and the fight sequences have improved significantly. Bonus points for using the original Chinese names and having the Axe Gang before Kung Fu Hustle. My only gripe with it is that it, and every Chinese historical film ever, is based in a time where the English was still raping China, which means that Whitey is the [impotent] bad guy. Still a great movie, though.

Last movie I watched was Winter's Bone. It bored me to tears, so...no. Despite the fact that it's up for Best Picture (like that means anything), I would recommend steering clear of it.

While I did enjoy it on the whole, I must agree with the following criticisms of Ed Wood:

"If Ed Wood has a major failing, it's the lack of momentum. Wood's career had nowhere to go, and to some extent the film has the same problem. "

- Elvis Mitchell for the New York Times

"The most interesting personality in Ed Wood is not the title character, but Bela Lugosi. So covered up with makeup that he's barely recognizable, Martin Landau gives a deeply-felt performance -- a eerie and stunning recreation of a man haunted by lost fame."

- James Berardinelli for ReelViews

"Always engaging to watch and often dazzling in its imagination and technique, picture is also a bit distended, and lacking in weight at its center."

- Variety

Overall, an interesting film, but not one that I would call a favorite, nor one that I would go out of my way to watch more than once.

I just finished watching Evil Dead 2. It is rather silly but fun at the same time, below are a couple of scenes of particular silliness.

"YOUR CLOTHES ARE BLACK!"

OT: PAUL. Yeah it was pretty good, some good gags along the way and Rogen's voice was a good choice. Nick Frost was also not bad. The beans reccommend.
