Do you remember your first Pokemon team?

I was just thinking about this the other day. I've been re-tooling a lot of my games, setting up my teams with my favorite Pokemon, and I just started thinking back to my first team in Blue back in 98.

I'd started with Charmander and the first Pokemon I ever caught was a Nidoran(m) This team made the fight against Brock take quite a while...so I already had Charmeleon and Nidorino by the time I beat him.

I evolved Nidorino as soon as I got a Moon Stone (not the best move...) and somehow my tiny brain couldn't figure out why Misty was destroying me so badly when my team was a Fire type and a Ground type... (I practically had Charizard by the time I beat her lol)

Had to get through Rock Tunnel blindly groping the whole way because I did not know Flash existed or where I would get it even if I did.

Ended up getting a Hitmonchan from the fighting dojo who I ended up giving Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch and Mega Punch (ah, Pokemon ignorance...you just can't get that back)

I caught Snorlax because I thought he was badass and he ended up being the Pokemon I taught Surf to.

Then I got my Kabuto from the lab and went off to catch Articuno.

So that was my first team

Not the best team in the world, but I liked them. I've been feeling all nostalgic lately. Maybe I should go ahead and re-create that team in one of my games.

Not very well mostly because I would generally just use my starter which was Swampert and mash the A button during battles like most 10-year-olds (Yeah, I was late to the party despite being around when Red and Blue were released I didn't get interested until RSE came out). I think I was into the "Gotta Catch 'Em All" aspect but not the "Gotta Train 'em all" so I had like two HM Slaves, a Taillow for fly and I think a Zigzagoon for Cut, and that's all I remember.

Didn't continue with the pokemon games so find it easy to remember my first main team :')

1)Gyarados. Iirc my moveset for him: hyperbeam, hydro pump, thunderbolt, blizzard
He was full of nasty surprises for the enemy
2)Victorybell or w/e it was called, he was my mewtwo killer, would make em fall asleep and poison them, most of the time they would die before waking up.
3)Gengar. Psychic pokemon were popular back in the day so was this guys job to eat them.
4)Electron
5)Golem
6)Charizard

I remember, all my friends had a Mewtwo in their team, and our battles always came down to "who has the strongest Mewtwo". For the record, it was always mine. Mostly because I was a tricky bastard, and taught mine Toxic.

I remember it having a Blastoise and a Rapidash. I think a Ninetails as well, maybe a Pidgeotto.

Yeah, I was one those kids who would only use his starter throughout the whole game, Charmander in my case. The others would just be substitutes to heal Charmander.

This might be slightly off topic (in my own topic...)

But does anyone know of any good fan made games that use the Gen 1 Pokemon? I wanna re-create this team of mine, but rather than buy a game, I thought maybe try one of the many rom hack games.

I heard Team Rocket Edition was pretty good, but I'd just like to hear some opinions. Anything Red/Blue hack or even FireRed/LeafGreen

Funny story about the Dragonite too. For whatever reason my Pokemon Yellow cartridge's save data was gone. Just gone. So my mom mailed it to Nintendo's support team. When I got it back they had somehow restored my game data or just made a save state, I don't know, and as compensation gave me a brand spanking new level 50 Dragonite. I was freaking ecstatic when I saw that. Unfortunately after years of not playing the cartridge I think the memory just got deleted. I was so disappointed when I went back to play it recently.


Also the Mew was totally legit. I got it at a Nintendo giveaway at some mall in Long Beach I think.

I transfered the entire team to Gold. When I found the battery in Gold dead and my team forever gone I was heart broken. They were with me for years.

In memory of Pigeot I have a Pidgeotto permanently in my Pokewalker that I bring everywhere with me.
