I want games where you get the option of just maiming the prick. Seriously, why did I just mercilessly slaughter all these soldiers? Easy, I have no issue with them. I'm not TRYING to make them suffer, they're just in the way and I need to make sure they don't get me in the back when I get to my final goal. Also, if I maim them, I feel like I'm punishing them for someone else's wrong doing. They didn't do me wrong, they're just being told to kill me. So I have to kill them.

Instead of killing or releasing the enemy, chop his limbs off. Take something thin and brittle, shove it in his urethra and smash it. Just torture the bastard however you feel is appropriate. If he raped and murdered your wife and/or child, mangle his genitals. If he stole something of yours and then ruined your good name to take the credit and keep you from ever getting enough public appeal to get him busted then slice up his hands and puncture his throat in a few places so that it's impossible for him to communicate anymore. Then break his neck a few times for good measure. ***** doesn't get to even nod.

That's what I'd like.

There's a school of thought which I subscribe to that suggests that the only thing worse than conning somebody is allowing yourself to be conned. Parallels with this situation perhaps (although I don't know any games that would allow you to let the big boss live because he talked you out of it!)

It is annoying. The ending of Assassins Creed II was BS in that respect.

Only a really good game with brilliant writing and great characters could make me want to let him go... Otherwise I couldn't be convinced to let him go and I'd bust a cap in this ass (Or chop off his head, or whatever I could do in the context of the game)

It's kinda a stupid plot device - why would you let the most evil person go, when you killed all their lackeys (who most likely were much much less evil than the boss)??

I let Augustus Autumn go, but that's only because he wasn't nearly as evil as most of the Enclave. John Henry Eden? I made him self-destruct. Raven Rock looked beautiful going up in a spectacular fireworks display.

1: I don't play a good character.
2: Is he of any use to me for furthering my evil agenda?
