Do you sell your games?

As a kid I used to dream of having a huge collection of video games, but now I see that as pointless hobby and a waste of money. Don't get me wrong though, I think having a gaming collection (of any kind) is pretty cool, however it's just not for me.

I recently began selling games I know I'll never play again on eBay and noticed that my game collection had really decreased, but I don't really regret any of the games that I sold. I came to the conclusion that I should only rent games from now on and then buy the ones that I know I'm going to put a lot of hours into such as Zelda, and after I've played them dry, probably sell them on eBay. I'm still pretty sentimental about my video games so I don't sell the ones I've had a lot of good memories with, however, now that I have a job and buy my own video games I've been trying to work out the least expensive way of being able to play all the games I want to.

My point is, can you bear having to sell your video games? or do you like to make a little more money by selling the ones you don't care about anymore? do you have a big gaming collection? Thanks for reading my first topic on this forum!

I have a fairly large collection. Not massive but pretty sizeable. What I tend to do is sell a bunch of games once I run out of space. I'm not a "collector" but I only sell ones that I know I'll never play again. I'll keep most stuff if I have a feeling that maybe one day I'll want to come back, even if not for a long time. Sometimes if I'm unsure I'll play a game I'm thinking of selling to give it one last chance, and if it doesn't pass the test then it goes bye-bye.

Occasionally I have sold games that I've later regretted and bought again. That's only a handful of games, but I have regretted some of them quite a lot. Like Jade Empire. I sold that and then regretted it. Ages afterwards I happened to come across the LCE pre-owned in some shop so I took the chance to grab it back. There's a chance it was even the same copy I had sold, since I originally had the LCE first time round, and the shop I bought it in was the same place I sold it. It was years later though, so it's a longshot.

I haven't found it hard to afford games for a long time though, so I don't plan to sell games any more. I'll just find space for them.

I have a large collection of games. It used to be a lot bigger, but I did sell some games because I needed the money. I regretted it every single time and I go back to buy the same game again later if I have the money to. Once I'm earning more money I won't sell games ever again, I love to hoard them.

I sold a game once. I ended up regretting it so I went to buy it again and found a better version (Non-platinum) with a bonus disc. Since then I've never sold a single game related thing and now I've almost turned collector.

I still remember ages ago when my mum asked about getting rid of the Mega Drive. The stare of disbelief I gave her for what she'd suggested was enough.

Yeah, I do sell my games if it gets to a point where I think that I'll never play it again, such as Red Dead Redenption, fantastic game but I could neer see myself playing through it again. Or if I really don't like a game, such as Portal 2 or L.A. Noir.

Nope, I replay a lot of my games or if the game was terrible I'd rather keep the disc as a frisbee than take the $1 any place would give me for it.

No, never. Not for many years now... I know i'll want to play one that I sold even years later

Let's face it the re-sale value of games is beyond terrible. Why would I sell 10-15 games and probably not get over the price of one full price game in return?

I used to sell and, trade my games but I changed my mind some time ago and am trying to build up a big game collection. I've got a pretty decent collection at the moment and am eager to expand, with a lot of directions I still have yet to go. I started collecting older games because now that I'm an adult, I can go back and play the games I couldn't buy for myself as a kid. I keep my games so I can go back and play my favorites again.

I can't bare to sell anything of mine, even trading is hard most of the time. I'm too attached to everything. Everything is a memory, and I don't want to lose them. I still have all my stuffed animals sitting in my bedroom.

I've only ever regretted buying one game, and even then I haven't sold it.

No , I don't. Good or bad, great or terrible, my games remain mine till the day I shuffle off my mortal coil.

I started using Steam three years ago and pretty much only played PC games since. The only other consoles I use nowadays are the DS/3DS,and I love all my current games too much to sell them.

This is my answer . That and i think i am done with new games once thisgeneration is over ( for the forseeable future ). Because personally i like Jrpgs and this generation has fallen flat on it's face in terms of jrpgs ( yes i know there are a couple of good ones ) compared to the previous generations . And i expect this trend to continue . So i'm going to start retro gaming .

I currently have 200+ console games ( i don't game on pc ) and i will keep all of them . And probably replay most of them , when the gaming apocalypse arrives ( digital download only ).

I don't normally plan on selling any of the games that I purchase, since I usually only buy games that I plan on playing for a long time, much like you did. I kind of like having a collection to show off and I play most of the games I own on a semi-regular basis so it justifies it I think.

When I get the next genearation I usually sell the old one and the games.
I saved a few GameCube games for the Wii and since the WiiU will support Wii games I'll save the ones I think I might replay someday, if I buy the new gen, my gaming has decreased dramatically the last two years.

No, I'm a colossal pack-rat by nature & most of my games are probably too old to sell by now (as in, a modern computer probably doesn't even have compatibility that goes back far enough)

I sold a game once and almost immediately regretted it. I don't think I'll ever do it again. I like my collection, the good games and the bad, and I intend to keep it.

Cheapest method to play games is to wait until they're on Sale and/or really old. Then again, if you play Games rarely, there is only like three or four Games in a good year that can't be played dry in a Weekend, so i'd argue the Expense is pretty small already.
But it can still cheaper. Play old Games. Now is the time to buy this new Xbox360 or that gaming PC that is fast enough to run Ports from that. How about some "Oblivion"? That will take you some time an it's cheap by now.

Another Advantage here is: You can be Spoiler free. You can read Forums carelessly and when you pick up the Games they where talking about in a few Years, you will have forgotten all the Spoilers :D
