Though I'm a pretty pleasant person, I walk very fast, don't look at people, and have an angry expression on my face haha. I do love when people smile at me, though. It makes me feel good and I always end up smiling for a good while after that.

Yknow, I guess that means I should start trying to look at people and smile when I pass them. Good job making me reflect on my actions, OP

I don't smile at random people, but if someone does something nice (say, holds a door open for me) I have no problem smiling and saying thank you.

Yup I smile, talk, take/give candy/drinks from/to strangers the whole bunch (I also invite them to my home). If a group of strangers are sitting on the ground I walk towards them and ask if I can join. And yes I've make friends and a lover this way. (Do you make a lover?)
Though in all honesty I'm a 1.93 meters tall white male, not being racist or sexist or something. But you have lesser to fear if you are tall and male, and unfortunately people tend to trust you more if you're male.
Strangers are seriously awesome people. You should try to be more open to them.

I smile at everyone that make eye contact with, which is usually on the street. Only half the time they smile back, though, which makes me sad. But those who smile back, gain my respect. Hell, I've made friends of a few valet guys who are on my way to school because I just smiled at them.

A little smile goes a long way. A little smile can make anyone's day! :D

Nope. I nod, wave, or say gooday. If I'm not genuinely pleased to see someone, then I don't smile.

I nod at people when we make eye contact, but when I'm at my mom or dad's home town, it's mandatory to say hello when then ten feet away from you.

Sometimes, if it's one of those situations where you have to go past them (Like 1 vs 1)
I have been rejected a few times though :L

Sometimes.
If someone smiles at me, I smile back, unless I'm in a foul mood.
If I spot girls looking my direction, I also usually smile at them.
I'm usually met with giggles when that happens.
Though I'm never quite sure if it's the 'blush and giggle' or 'lol, loser' kind of reaction.
I'd prefer the former.

I smile most of the time, not necessarily _at_ people. Then again, if I make eye contact with someone, and that someone's attractive, I'll smile. If not, I'll just look away real fast while looking embarrassed.

When you are walking down the road and someone you don't know is approaching do you smile? If so, do you tend to get a good response? Have you ever made friends or enemies from this?
My friends mum, for 2 years smiled at this same woman every day on the way to work. After 2 years, the woman asked her to coffee and they became friends. N'yaaaw!
I smile at everybody in the street, I find a slight majority smile or nod back, a lot of people don't and occasionally for some reason they start talking to me or following me :/

I will nod or say hello if their someone in my neighborhood when out running but if I'm in the city I don't because that seems kinda creepy to just randomly smile at some random guy, less socially awkward that way.
