never. I have been robbed and cheated enough in my life, so I don't take what doesn't belong to me.

I might find a pencil in my desk or on the floor. I'm certainly not going to report it to the lost and found desk. The person who left it most likely won't come back to the classroom searching for it saying "has anyone seem my pencil? I seem to have lost my pencil. Please report it to the lost and found if you find it" I don't really give a crap about taking one unless I know whose it is, if it were made of fucking pure gold, or if it is right on a person's desk and/or close enough to them that you know that it's theirs. Sometimes I might borrow a pencil from someone then forget to give it back until 5 periods later and by then, I'm just not that worried about it. If I have it the next day then I'll return it. If they ask for it, then I'll return it.

Kinda, I can't leave pens lying around but I don't use them and give them to people in pen-need because I am a snob when it comes to pens

I picked up stationary if left on the floor or on a desk with no signs of human activity near it. That was in school where people kept shifting class rooms every 50 mins. I highly doubt anyone would panic and search the places where they were last if a pen went missing or a pencil. In less it's one of those special ones that could have sentimental value.

However, I did find in school people would ask to borrow pens and pencils... and never give them back. Even teachers. I can understand forgetting, but you're HOLDING something that belongs to someone else. You'd have thought you'd be constantly aware that you're holding it.

Those people can burn for I care. I don't like my good nature being abused.

You would't steal a car.

You wouldn't steal a handbag.

Pencil theft finances people trafficking and terrorism and drives up pencil prices for honest citizens.

You monsters.

My motto is take a pencil leave a pencil. If I see a lost one I take it, because I know I'm going to lose mine sooner or later and it will continue the cycle.

This thread has actually given me an idea...

I do believe it would be rather funny to venture into Argos and "remove" all the pencils from the store - Just seeing everyone wandering between stools asking for a pencil would awake some evil, bad and trollish part of me.

When I was in middle school I stayed late after school, waiting for my mom to pick me up. I went into the gym where all the students would hang out before classes started and I saw a 2 huge piles of paper, the biggest one being blank paper. Next to it was a pile of working pens.
That basically traumatized me, seeing how wasteful everyone was. I take paper/pens/pencils if I see they were abandoned, and if I can, I give them back to the people who left them.

I have a cabinet full of paper, pens, pencils, binders, I have no back to school shopping when it comes to supplies.

Never on purpose. I'm sure there's been a time or two that I've been filling paperwork out at some place and accidentally walked off with a pen/pencil.

I always keep a supply of quality Ticonderoga pencils, and avoid those cheap ones that people tend to have a lot of.
Back in middle school I would occasionally, but mainly just if they happened to be on the floor as I was passing by.

It's so much better to be prepared, though.

IT WAS YOU!

I lost entire pencil-cases worth off stuff during my primary- and high-school years. All this time I wondered what kind of prick would make off with something so worthless; a theft that does nothing but inconvenience the victim.

Now I know. It's people who think that kind of asshattery is just a bit of harmless fun!

GIVE ME BACK MY PENCILS!

I accidentally take pens all the time. No one ever sees them again, since they get lost in the maze of junk called my car's glove compartment.
