So called "Experts" everywhere, from TV to your Wii manual say that people with epilepsy should not play games for more than an hour at a time. Well that makes sense. But these same people say all gamers should take 15 minute breaks between every hour of gaming. What?

So, do you take breaks while gaming? If so how often/long are they?
(Does not include food/bathroom breaks. Taking a break to do something completely diffrent that isn't gaming at all, say... write an essay.)

I only take a break from a game if the game has bad pacing, is bad, is annoying, or I simply am done with it for a while.

Half Life 2: Never had to take a break; pacing was damned perfect. Only thing that stopped me playing for the day was sleep (forced sleep, mind you)

Dark Sector: Horrible pacing. I hate the game fully. I took 4 breaks in the space of 4 days not related to sleep, food, etc.

When I play Fallout 3 or Oblivion, I'll stop every hour or so and play with my cat. But that's just because she's too adorable to not pet.

The only time I have ever taken a break is from ragequiting, and I think that alot of us can say that there has been a game so epic that we never stopped playing it.

I try never to game for more than 2 consecutive hours.

The operative word here is "try", though. Sometimes when I get really into a game I just lose all sense of time, and it happens more often than I like to admit that I suddenly realise I've been gaming for five hours straight without taking a break.

Then I'm like "Allright, I really need to turn off the computer, but... just one more turn!"

I take a break when I stop feeling like playing. Then I minimize, watch an episode of cartoon x, and after that I get back to the gaming

You can take breaks while gaming? Please tell me more of this strange earth thing that you call "Break from Gaming".

That would be a "no" then from me.

Really depends on my mindset and whether or not I'm physically cramping up - if I'm not really finding myself immersed I might go do something else and come back, or fire up something different.

Most of my 'breaks' are just food/bathroom ones though, if I'm gaming then I will pretty much keep going barring some real life commitment or something pissing me off/making me want to stop and go rave about it in the game.

I usually quit for a few minutes every hour. Not because I think I should, but because I feel like it.

i take breaks when i notice my eyes can't focus on anything but the screen im looking at. However sometimes w. the call of duty games, i just start going and its one headshot...then another....then another...Next thing i know its 6 hours later, i should have gone to sleep 2 hours ago.
