Do you take seriousness in what people say if they're on probation.

My reaction is just that of oh well they acted daft everyone's human, so yes to answer your question I still take people seriously when they are on probation.

Eh not really although if they say something that sounds really dumb AND are on probation I usually just think they are an asshat and I ignore em.

I lose respect for people on probation, but rarely will I remember their screen name anyway. The reason I lose respect for the is because it is really not hard to not be put on probation. I was going to list a few basic rules but really, common sense is my guide.

I still read posts by people on probation though, and truthfully I rarely recognize names on this forum. So at the end of the day I think you are safe from not being taken seriously, at least by me.

Well it all depends on how you feel you should approach this situation, I'll admit when I got probation I was both pissed and saddened I could do something so stupid. Well that is in the past, just pretend like your not even on probation, post with a purpose, and people will have no reason to doubt you.

It doesn't hurt to get away from the forums every now and then, but you shouldn't do it just because you are on Probation. Do it because you need a break.

Anyways. There are plenty of people on the site that are currently on probation. It's not that big a deal and all that is required is for you is to make sure your posts don't break any rules. Avoid calling people names, don't let rage get the best of you and make sure your post has a point.

meh. I thought I made a valid point in my post at the time but I guess saying, "fuck you" to no one in particular is still saying, "fuck you" and somehow offensive and somehow it degrades the forum...

meh. I don't care. As long as I'm not permabanned. That would be absolutely infuriating.

Try life out without the escapist for a week. It sounds like a good thing to try.

Ya that's the exact thing that happened to me I'm not really pissed that I was put on probation I'm pissed that I was so near sighted that I let someone get to me and let myself get put on probation.

EDIT: Does anyone know if this probation will effect me joining the Publishers Club.

Kind of depends. I don't really care if your on Probation or not for most discussions about games, movies, politics, pie. I think of your opinion as valid as any. If it is on the topic of Probation and your complaining about it, I might be inclined to take your opinion as much as a child sent into the corner for a time out about how stupid it is.

Your probation post made me laugh. I can understand toeing the line but that was forgetting that there is any moderation on the forum at all.

I take people on probation seriously, most of time. It means that they aren't pussies who are scared to go state their opinion, no matter how offensive.

That or they just respond with three words.

I always click on the link to see why a person was put on probation and then make my judgement of them then. For instance, your probation doesn't affect my judgement of you, that person was obnoxious and rude and you were fed up with it. Do I think less of you for that? No, you acted like most of us would in that situation.

I don't, seeing as I just said someone was a dick, apologized 10 minutes later, and still got it.

The way I look at it, probation just means you stepped out of line and said something stupid. Show me one person that hasn't done that, and I'll show you the reincarnation of Jesus himself.

I always read the post that got them put on probation. I make my judgment based on that post, not on the mod wrath used.

I have never received a probation, and I have stepped out of line on this site. I got a mod warning, and didn't do it again.

Probation is usually for stepping out of line multiple times, directly insulting another member, or breaking a semi-major rule.

edit-

very sorry for double post, I had already posted the first time before I saw the post I responded to.

I think you're missing the point of the probation. It's meant as a warning - don't log out for the week if you don't want to because I doubt people will worry too much about your tag for the week.

Just, uh, don't go doing anything stupid, now especially!

Why especially now?

You didn't make the mistake of insulting someone in the Religion section, in a topic were at least 3 other people got probation too. Whoops on my behalf.

Because if you mess up again, its suspension/banhammer time (probably suspension).

I will usually check out the post that caused the probation, and then decide if I respect any further responses.
