Maybe. I'm definitely intending to go into it with an open mind - in general I don't mind the Assassin's Creed games, nothing since Black Flag has made me really all that excited to play them. Unity and Syndicate in particular, while totally fine games, suffered from terribly cluttered maps and a generally lackadaisical approach to pacing. While I'm not wholly convinced that Ubisoft will wholly manage to address the perennial problems with the series, I do remain hopeful that Origins gives the franchise a little shake at least.

Instinctively I'm going to say "Not a fucking chance" but there's always the possibility that they'll pull it off.

If nothing else, Egypt is a hell of a setting.

Maybe? Probably not though.

The general pressures of having to be the gigantic flagship series (I actually wonder if Just Dance is there actual consistent moneymaker, lol) prettymuch mean it'll have stuff forced into or out of it. And probably way too many cooks in the kitchen.

Ubi doesn't do terrible work, taken as a whole. But their big marketed stuff tends to get pretty mashed.

On a personal level? No.

The only AC game I liked was Black Flag and even then I didn't care for the typical AC gameplay aspects.

I gave up on AC 3. It just bugged me on a level so deeply that I dropped it after an hour or so.

Depends. Are they changing their design philosophy and actually trying to move the franchise towards some kind of ending? Or are they once again just mucking about again and only putting a token effort towards advancing the story that's supposed to link these Animus jaunts together?

IMO, Assassin's Creed had more good games than bad ones, so I can allow myself to be optimistic about Origins.

And say what you will about Assassin's Creed, but every game in the series is worth playing. Even the first one. They're adventure games. Not challenging, sure. But they are fun. Even the worst ones in the series ( AC1, Unity and Syndicate) are still fun enough that they're worth picking up eventually.

I think they are more stale than COD. the only ones that are worst playing are AC4 which was a great game and AC3 which is alright game untill you play as connor. haythem was far better.

rest of them are awful. and that also include AC2. i couldnot finish any of them.

Probabaly. Even the worst game from the franchise is an OK game. My issue with the series is that after the first few games i just got tired of doing the same crap over and over and i didn't find the storylines particulary interesting until Black flag came along. That game got saved by it's interesting setting and naval battles and still i was wishing for it to be over towards the end.

I have little doubt that it will be a well made game, i just hope that it will have an interesting story and characters to accompany the same old follow and sneak missions that haven't changed much since the beginning, perhaps then i could bring myself to play it until the end.

Yeah, that's a big question on my mind. I was really invested in the series when it looked like the present storyline was building toward something. Since they seem more interested in faffing about with "Hey, Random Person. You're an assassin now Durdy Dur!" it's been hard to keep invested.

Every attempt to keep the tension going in the present was squandered. The Templar Mind Control Satellite with the apple inside you hear about in AC1 and presumably care about until AC3(5 games later)? Never makes to the Launchpad, because apparently the Templars blew up their only apple offscreen and couldn't find another one.

Solar Flare going to kill off most of Earth population? Turns out the ancients already built a way to repel it(after trying a bunch of crazy other schemes) and were just waiting for Desmond to turn it on(but it kills him and releases Juno).

Juno released into the world? Oh, she's trapped in the Templar mainframe and apparently her reincarnated husband is the weird IT guy at not-ubisoft.

So yeah.

Am I the only one who reads Armored Core when he sees AC?

Assassins Creed would benefit from giant mechs.

I imagine it will be alright. It will just be another Assassin's Creed game. Ultimately fun but bloated and nothing we haven't seen before. If I ever do pick it up it will be in a sale. Interestingly I have never payed more than ?10 for an AC game. The Ezio trilogy I got all over a year after they came out second hand. The first game I got a couple of years ago in steam sale and same with Black Flag.

Looks like it could be ok. Ubisoft sandbox games are kinda like the potato chips of gaming. I typically enjoy them alright while im playing them and then forget them almost instantly after I put them down.

Unity was a big piece of shit, and it was so much of a big piece of shit that AC: Syndicate and the AC movie both flopped as well.
You got a source for that? The only thing I've found on Syndicate's sales is that it's first week was bad because of Unity, it's second week was much better, and it was trending to sell like Black Flag.

And, yeah, I can't blame the AC movie's failures on Unity. The moment I saw what the present day sections looked like I decided not to even board the ship. But I guess they thought it'd look too much like The Matrix if they stuck to the source material.
