As for me, no, I don't. I'm currently in a relationship with a gal who is two years my senior, and it's going swimmingly. Do you think that age matters in a relationship?

Edit: By the way, I'm not saying my relationship has a drastic age gap by any means, it's miniscule.

If it's legal, it's fine.

Little gaps like that? No. I'm in a relationship with a man two years older, and it's wonderful.

Now gaps like 5-10 years? Sometimes. I've been with people from six years younger than I to ten years older. And only the ones closer to my age worked out long-term.

Yes, a 60 year old should not be in a relationship with a 10 year old.

As long as it's over the legal age limit, then, I think you're set.

As long as it's not creepy (for eg: old man with little girl), then it's fine.

Nope!
31, dating a 21 year old. Its awesome. Get them before their hang ups do. Not to mention its impossible to find a chick in my age group that hasn't popped out a kid, or two.

What is it? Half the age add 7? I never did get that

anyway. No it doesn't really. Why does love stop if a person is one two or 6 years older or younger. You love the person, why have a silly number get in the way.

Well that's two years. Not a really big deal.

What are you, 15? Age is a factor, but it's all relative. If a 45 year old is married to 35 year old, no big deal. If someone 32 is dating someone 19, it's gonna end in disaster.

I'm 19, I've only ever dated girls my age. I consider someone two years older than me to be about my age (but she could also buy me liquor).

2 years OP? How old are you because once you get 17/18 or so 2 years older means jack.

If it works it works. On paper big gaps can seem a little weird, but that doesn't mean it is.

4 years? That really depends on a lot. 10 and 14: big difference, 18 and 22: not much a difference, 30 and 34: basically the same age.

After 18, I think up to about a ten year age difference is perfectly acceptable. But then again, people can't be generalized like that and every relationship should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

This is an interesting discussion, but I can't help but feel that OP is a young, love-struck, stupid, asshole.

AHAHAHAHAHA my parents have a 9 year age difference.

OT: As long as the younger person can be sufficiently mature, I don't think it matters. Plus as you get older, the age difference really does matter less and less. I mean, who really can tell the difference between all the old farts over 50, amirite? (I am not right).

Because I'm creepy I find age differences (mostly in fiction) to be kind of hot... like read a lot of Diana Palmer's romance novels, the age differences are around 10 years apart, I find there to be something appealing about it. Then again it might be the whole big protector male and cute innocent female that I find appealing...

... okay I'll stop being creepy now xD

That depends on what kind of age gap we're talking about here. For example a 2 year age gap like in the OP's case is nothing, but if we're talking like an 80 year old and a 20 year old, that's a more than a little ridiculous.

Age doesn't matter much as long as you're close to the same 'area' in life, in my opinion. (ex. a high schooler and a college graduate face different things in life so it would be hard to see eye to eye)
Also, you have to be around the same maturity level. It's mental age that's the main determining factor, really, not physical.
