Gamers are good or bad on their own merits. Skill is not determined by what does or doesn't dangle between your legs.

Any individual that proves they can play good is a good player, period.

There are too few girls playing games, yes.

Girls can be just as good (I'm one myself). I think the main thing is that girls just don't play as much (whether due to social stigmas, biologic makeup, or whatever).

But have you ever seen any female body builders? Highly, highly unattractive and a tad scary if you ask me. Why a woman would ever want to take that career is beyond me.
It is a fetish, something about the Amazons and being dominated by a strong woman does something for them. Different strokes and all that.

I find it odd how you created a thread about being "hated on" for being a girl gamer then say something bad about female body builders. Maybe you and that kid who messaged you have something in common.

On topic. Having two X's makes you no less able to play games then a person with a Y. It's like saying a lefty has more movement control but less accuracy in games.

I'm a woman and I don't think having ovaries affects my gaming skill. I'm good, being female doesn't make me bad. There are countless men out there who suck at gaming too. I play a varying amount of games from World of Warcraft to Elder Scrolls IV and Pickle Wars, but of course you will always get men who will automatically think women suck at games because they've either never met any female gamers, or the few they have weren't super amazing.

yes a lot of girls out there are very good.

Do you think they are as good as boys?
yes easily.

Do you mind facing a girl online?
if a girl is playing online that is good i do not mind it at all. It makes no difference so I dont see why people make such a big deal out of it.

I don't like to think all of X is Y.

There have been many great female gamers who have completely destroyed me, and I've destroyed my fair share of female gamers.

It goes the same with males.

Being a girl myself I'd like to be classed as a decent gamer. I don't play COD, or mass effect or any of those kinds of games. I'm more of an RPG based player (if any of you have read my posts before you could gather I hate online play)

I was online once and I was playing L4D some boy was playing with me and as soon as he saw I was a girl he left the party sent me a message saying "I don't want to play with you cause you're a girl"

Judged on my sex, yet again.
ok first: that guy you played with is probably either A: a total @-hole or B: a nervous 4 year old. and second: To answer your question, yes. Why? well, i have a friend on xbox live named Allison who me and her occasionally play cod:Black ops or battlefield: bad company 2 and she mainly beats me in the game scoreboard all the time so, yes.

Seriously though, I don't know how legit it is but I recal hearing/seeing somewhere that... I forget exactly how it works but something to do with the male species brain patterns showing favourable signs towards fast moving objects. Race cars, fighter jets, guns, explosions, profesional sports, that sort of thing gets us going. And it's easy enough to see, just look at our movie preferences, a 'guy flick' vs a 'chick flick'.

If this is the case, then this would apply to and be beneficial for guys playing video games. Now there's nothing physically stopping a girl from being good at gaming, so those that do game can be and are often just as good. Just the majority of them won't be into the sort of video game which you can be considered 'good' at, and those that are will be greatly outnumbered.

1. Never met females in games (what I know of)

2. It all depends on skill.

3. no I don't, we are all equal.

Hope you're pleased with my answers, comrade.

I'll say right now, I'm a guy, and most of the games I own are RPGs (especially JRPGs) and in my youth I spent most of my time with action adventure, light gun (the arcade shooters), 2d and 3d platformers, and hack n slash games. Two genre's that, by my gender as a guy, that I should be good at are fighting games and 1st person shooters, but I'm not that great at them. I still like them sure, but I kinda suck because I haven't spent a lot of time with them.

What makes a good gamer or bad gamer is only two things: How much time you spend with the game and how much you click with the game, not what rests between your legs.

I don't really play anything online anymore, and when I do I don't really care what gender people are. And I see nothing that suggests that women are inherently worse at games than men are.

Skill can not be predetermined by gender, especially in gaming..

If it was say weightlifting you would be at a natural disadvantage.
But in games? Hardly.
True.

Little off subject but I thought I'd throw my two pence in.
Well, I'd wager that female body builders choose that career because it's what makes them happy. And after all, I'm pretty sure that most women don't make career choices based on what you think is attractive.

I can't care less if the person shooting me is male or female. All I care about is the way I'll take REVEEENGEEE!
And then, to step it up, the way I'll dominate them (tf2)

Well since I am part of the female vareity
I think any female can succeed if they can. Yet I do know girls who will tell guys to go easy because they are female and just makes me want to kick them.

We can assume that girls are bad gamers in the same way that we can assume Mexicans are good gardeners, the Irish are all drunk; nerds are sexless, male virgins; and people with unibrows are Frida Khalo.

The part always defines the whole, right?

There's an invisible "all" stuck onto the back end of any category--women just get the worst of it.

Also, that gamer who wouldn't play has definitely got performance anxiety issues.

Some reading on this topic: http://fatuglyorslutty.com/
As a male, my voice isn't much, but I thought that might be better to remind you that you're not alone. :)

They're as good as they want to be, which is to say they're as capable as any guy. The only reason the gender divide still exists is due to the industry harming itself by appealing to the existing male audience, both with female sex objects and male fantasies.

It's a nice breakup of routine to see a girl online. Seeing one means I expect them to be different to the immediate image of a male gamer (read: hypercompetitive, overly serious and offensive), and having that image cast aside does wonders for my social routine. It's even better if they're sociable. :)

Can women be good gamers? Sure. My wife is wayyyy better at WoW than I am (she's in a top-10 US guild); She used to be able to hold her own in Unreal Tournament, but I bet her skills have atrophied a bit. (Being in a top-10 guild in WoW requires a staggering investment of time.) Puzzle games too, she tends to do better than I. I probably only really got her in 3rd Person Action games and Sports games. (Although Wii Sports can get very competitive at our house.)

That said, the girls out there do have one disadvantage: the 'serious gamer girls' are undermined by the the 'attention driven gamer girls'. You know, the ones who play the damsel in distress card and use their gender to get others to do stuff for them. (Particularly prevalent in MMOs.) They tend to give all the female gamers a bad rep.

Unfortunately, I don't see how you can avoid that: the sad truth is that there will always be people who look for ego gratification, both male and female.

First question:
I'm not actually sure how to answer this. It's a bit of a strange question. Obviously I don't consider all girls to be "good gamers". That'd be sexist, just like it would be sexist of me to say that all girls are "bad gamers". Some are good, some are bad. That's the way it works.

Second question:
Well, taking the amount of girl gamers I personally know and judging them against the amount of guy gamers I personally know. They are not. Considering we've had 6v6 battles (girls-boys) on Call of Duty, and the boys won (mostly due to me playing insanely well those few times), no I'd say guys can be slightly better; but that's probably because we're men and they're not guys, in general, spend more time playing video games.

Third question:
I don't really care. I rarely talk to people I don't know and I generally beat people at CoD anyway. If I lost to a girl? I still wouldn't care. It's a game. People who take them seriously obviously have no fun playing them.

There, I hope I've answered your questions :)

Well, I have seen many good girl gamers online. In fact, most of them are usually the top of the score board or close. I only remember 1 bad gamer girl, and she was bad because she got the game like the day before. Still did better than a few boy gamers I know.

Never met a good girl gamer in real life though.
