Speaking from a girl's perspective, I think they certainly can be. I am really new to first person shooters so I'm not great at them, but I am pretty good.
Actually, there's an aussie psychologist by the name of Cordelia Fine whose research apparently suggests that there are no practical differences between the male and female human brain, save those which are the product of environment, rather than inherent differences. Given how much you can alter someone's performance just by getting them to think about certain things beforehand(we, as a species, are remarkably easy to psych up or psych out), this strikes me as a very plausible conclusion.Atheist. said:It depends on the type of game. Men's brains are generally better at spacial awareness, which would be a plus in games like first person shooters. Women's brains generally more adept at language based skills, like memorizing words or responses, so they'd likely be better at remembering weaknesses or responses early in a game.
There are more guy gamers than girl gamers (at least for FPS and multiplayer games) so that is the only reason girls are seen as bad gamers, or guys are seen as "the gaming gender".Isla said:Being a girl myself I'd like to be classed as a decent gamer. I don't play COD, or mass effect or any of those kinds of games. I'm more of an RPG based player (if any of you have read my posts before you could gather I hate online play)
But do you consider girls good gamers?
Do you think they are as good as boys?
Do you mind facing a girl online?
I was online once and I was playing L4D some boy was playing with me and as soon as he saw I was a girl he left the party sent me a message saying "I don't want to play with you cause you're a girl"
In chat speak mind.
Judged on my sex, yet again.
