Do you think Natal can help the 360 dominate 2010?

I've recently just got my new issue of Game Informer, and supposedly with the launch of Reach and Natal close together, the Xbox will supposedly wipe all competition away. I don't really think so in my opinion. I think Reach will outperform Natal. What do you think?

I still am not seeing the appeal of natal. I mean, its a souped up eye-toy. I hated that thing for the ps2, why would I want it for the xbox now?

Sure, if it works correctly and is a lot of fun.

Will it? Probbaly not

Should we care? Not really, why would we want one system dominating for an entire year?

It has potential for fun but I don't think it's going to dominate the market. People will already be wary of the quality of motion controlled video games.

I doubt it. The Wii has proven that motion control is not yet advanced enough to be applied to the kind of games that are on the 360 and the PS3.

as I said on previous posts, and as it was said by Gxas, this idea is not new, on the PS2 it failed, and even with the improves that the new gen will bring, I higthly doubt it.

Only thing Natal will do is make all thoses parents, who bought that and Halo 3 for there middle school kid, buy natal so EVERYONE can play on the 360. So now all the 13 year olds that swear and ack like dicks on XBL will have less time on XBL casue there 6 year old sister wants to paint a doggie with Natal.

Personaly, Natal doesn't intrest me, however i do see the idea. Everyone already has a wii, and most of the older kids in that house hold has a 360 to play good games. What natal will do is make the 360 more family friendly, and take time away from middle school "tough guy" that are constently on XBL.

As for dominate? Can't really say, sales wise it might, if they include a fitness mat of some kind.

Natal has potential as technology. But like every other hyped up technology now-a-days, it's on a high pedestal and has a long way to fall and not much room to grow past the hype. But I don't pay attention to hype, just announcements, I make my own hype.

Do you see the appeal of the Wii? 'cos I don't and it's made me wary of motion controls.

OT: Well, I don't think it will "dominate" 2010. I think it will outsell the ps3, but nintendo will (as always) own the year.

I can't say I'm confident that the power couple of Reach and Natal will help the 360 dominate. Halo 3: ODST's less-than-stellar performance has me thinking Reach might be consigned to a similar fate.

As for Natal, we all know that most "core" gamers aren't buying into the hype. This isn't necessarily a problem for Microsoft because it's not really intended for us. The problem is that the market it is intended for is already invested in the Wii. I can't see why they would be willing to drop $200, plus more for Natal, plus $50 for a year of Live, plus $100 for a wireless adapter if they play through Wifi, for what looks to be essentially the same kind of experience.

The 360's not hurting for sales, and I'm sure 2010's going to be a great year for it. But dominate? I doubt that.

I personally think it's just a gimmick that's going to be fun for the first one or two releases, then after that everyone's going to shrug their shoulders and forget about it entirely.

It might dominate in terms of popularity since MS seem to have a herd of sheep following them, but in terms of gameplay it'll fail miserably.

I don't care about sales though so MS can be as popular as they like :p

Sony's getting stronger with each year and they've got a good looking camera/controller package coming out. I think Sony will have a good year, but they started off roughly with MAG. Natal should make a spike in 360 sales, but not enough to have it lead the PS3 by a huge margin.

I honestly can't see it working very well. That kind of "on the fly" motion capturing just isn't something that our current technology can do justice. And if you don't believe me...

"Well, BAM, there it is."

I don't think there's really a market simply because the people willing to invest in the latest gaming technology have been playing their games a certain way for years or even decades. We've grown accustomed to the traditional controller method, and thus far don't seem too wowed by the concept. Sure, there will probably be a little bit of Wii-itis (people who've never really been into games joining up), but I don't know if the numbers will be as outrageous as the Wii produced. I actually think most of the people who would be interested already own a Wii and will not see the utility of purchasing the second system.

After hearing that Bungie were no longer using Natal for Reach, I began to wonder whether this was because Bungie are lazy, or because Natal won't work with Halo.

I have a feeling it'll go the same way as the Wii.

I'm perplexed by this sort of technology. Does Microsoft really think that this thing will actually work or appeal to its audience? It probably won't work and it probably won't appeal to 360 owners. This little device will more than likely be doomed to failure and will not help the 360 in any way.

you cant really say it'll fail yet, we don't know what the hell they are doing with it, for all we know it could revolutionise gaming. No one in their right mind can say it will fail unless they have played it (which no one has)

personally i think it could get the 360 to dominate, if created and used effectively and Microsoft don't fuck it up.

i mean just because Microsoft made it doesn't mean it will be bad...who here uses Microsoft Windows? who here had an original Xbox? who here has a computer built by Microsoft?

all of them are things Microsoft has created, and they shot to the top of the market (maybe apart from the Xbox but if it came out earlier i believe it would have out-shinned the PS2) so we cant really say Natal will be a failure...although someone will no doubt argue against me XD
