Do you think Natal can help the 360 dominate 2010?

What was the appeal of the wii? Simplicity and friendliness. Natal has that same appeal, but on a higher level. All the young kids and adults who were attracted to the wii, will now have a reason to look towards Xbox. Plus, when you're kid outgrows Natal, you don't need to crank out 300 smackaroons' for a new console.

Can't say that I do. I feel as though it is a very underpowered system that got by on nothing but a gimmick.
Good to know we are almost completely on the same page. I suppose that all some people want is a gimmick, or are too stupid (or unlearned) to know that there is better out there.
Downfall of humanity? I think so.
Yup, and the uprising of the theology Nintendoism, which shall one day rule the earth.

Can I play an eight hour marathon when I have to waggle my arms or pretend to hold something that's not there? No I get knackard!

Do I have the room to jump around in front of my tv? No, and I'll annoy the neighbours.

As mentioned it's a dressed up eye-toy and all that's been used for is children's games. Though I suppose it means that those with children will have an excuse to take out the old box more often.

My main gripe though, as with the Wii-mote is the feed back...if I have no controller, I have no feed back. Feedback is essential in this age of "photo-realistic" graphics in permanent grays, browns, blacks and earth tones.

Maybe they can build a massive mat that you put down on the floor and it vibrates at certain stimulus ;-)

I think it might help, though Natal won't be the driving force behind a 360 push this year. The Xbox 360 has quite a few advantages to push the market, but new IPs like Heavy Rain and MAG are threatening to give the PS3 a massive boost, at least in Q1. I think that the Xbox 360 will come out on top this year, but it'll be a pretty close run...

Anyway, I personally think that motion control is the way forward. I love the idea of playing an FPS by holding an imaginary gun and firing at the screen, it adds much more realism to the gameplay than pressing a button on a controller. Fighting it is futile, because at the end of the day everything changes eventually, and that includes the evolution of gaming control. I mean, look at joysticks for PC gaming. Who uses those anymore?

Whats the point in Natal? And I'm not being ironic or stupid I just see no point in it, unless it's to keep pedophiles off the streets.

Well, I feel like a lot of moms and casual gamers will buy a 360 because of the "neato" motion sensor thing.

Also isn't the 360 already likely to dominate 2010? It's the console everyone seems to get now
Yes, it is. (So it's reported.)
However, PS3 does have GOW3 coming out, so you never know. (I only mention GOW because I don't think Heavy Rain's been advertised enough.)

OT: Most likely, there will be a rise in 360 sales. A lot of people will buy it just because it's the next big thing of the time.
You talking about Gears of War 3? If so I didn't know about that and I wouldn't say so since gears seems to be losing it a bit.

Project Natal is super-fucking-cool if you're into the technical aspects and what it represents for the future of technology (if it works as advertised).

If you're looking at it from a purely gamer-oriented standpoint, then it's not as groundbreaking. It's got the same problem as the Wii: do you want to relax with something that fits in your hands or wave the damn thing (or in Natal's case, your whole body) around?

Sure, it might be fun for parties, but in general, it's not suited to what a gamer wants and expects.

Has a price point been released for the Natal?

When it comes to motion controls like this and the Wii I would equate it to technological developments like Kindles or other eReader thingies.

Sure I could read a book on a screen, but I'd rather hold the book. Sure I could interact with a game by waving my arms, but I'd rather hold a controller.

Interesting technological developments - sure but I guess I'm old fashioned.
