I'm vaguly interested in the setting, but when I heard it wasn't coming out on PC(and I have no plans on getting a PS4) I pretty much decided there's no point in getting hyped up for a game I'll likely never get to play.

Wake me if it's good and if it gets ported to the PC.

Honestly, I can't stand Steam Punk. Its such an intellectually lazy setting. Its Victorian Sci-fi with Steam powered everything to weakly justify their magic.
So no, I don't think 1886 is gonna be any good. I think it'll be just another bland shooter, barely different from the hundreds of others.

Well to be fair, they have steam gauges and pipes on everything, so I guess I should give it a 15/10, Game of the Year!
I'll admit I have a weakness for steam punk, but that doesn't mean that I'm gonna say "Steam punk! Twelve thumbs up!". If it's good, it's good. If it's crap, it's crap. Steampunk for me would be the icing on a good cake, not nearly enough to save a bad one.

Anemsia: A Machine for Pigs nailed the steampunk asethic. Too bad the rest of the game was merely okay and not at all subtle in it's message

AmfP:"Did you know that the pigs and the machine are metaphors for man in an uncaring, industrialized world?"
Me:"I did, because not only is it really obvious, but because you've already flat out told me five times before now. Do you think I have Alzheimers or something?"

I'm also in the "meh" category; some people will like it, others won't, so it's hard to say if it's actually gonna be good or not.

then again, I haven't really heard or read much about it since it was announced like last year so I'm impartial.

Meh. It looks like Ready At Dawn wanted to make a film, which already loses most of my interest, but on top of that it also looks pretty dull from the story/character point. I'm sure some people will eat it up with a spoon, because action and guns and werewolves are cool, I guess. But honestly I hope it doesn't become a big deal so RaD won't make a sequel. It just seems like a waste of a decent developer to me.

It looks the definition of average in pretty much every respect, and like others have said, the only reason it's getting such a big push is that Sony doesn't really have much else to push as a game with mass appeal.

I think it will be fun. Maybe not the most memorable and blow-you-away with awesomeness experience, but I like the art style and the action looks tight and solid. I don't even have a PS4 yet, and not looking to grab one anytime soon so I won't be picking it up anywhere near launch time. However, I'll put a disclaimer here that not every game has to be "groundbreaking" and absolutely freaking incredible and innovative in order for me to play it. It just has to be done well, control well and look decent, and I'll give it a go and probably play it till the end.

As far as sequels go though, I don't like what a franchise does when they take out the core element of what I enjoyed about it. Like assassinating in Assassin's Creed. However, this being a new IP, I'm more than willing to give it a chance.

I can't believe this game is so close to release and I still know next to fuck all about it. We know there are Werewolves, and they can talk and...what? The rest looks like they are trying to make it steampunk Uncharted/COD.

No I don't think it's going to be, well I don't think it's going to be bad, but I don't think it's going to be anything remarkable and it will just come off as another PS4 tech demo game.

I have a feeling it would be kinda fun to play, but it would be hard to justify spending 60 bucks on the game to do so. Going for the "cinematic feeling" makes me queasy about its potential of having excellent gameplay mechanics, and it could easily see it having too many QTEs and bland, heavily scripted set pieces, too.

It's cool that it's a new IP that Sony is pushing, but I can't see it going anywhere. I feel like we've seen this song and dance before. Sony is great about making new IPs like this, yet they never have much staying power. Plus, being a new IP does not mean it will automatically be good.

I will be very honest, I was excited for this because I love Victorian, steampunk, gothic era. ( I Hate high fantasy, medieval, sci-fi or modern brown war torn places) But I dislike shooters in general. Then there was another game that caught my eyes, it was like love at first sight. That game was Bloodborne (hype) annnd I forgot The Order even existed.

Hope it got good reviews and sell well but to me, the biggest problem with this game is that it tried to focus on the story too much which makes it seems "Hollywood" as in tried to be too emotional or deep. The best phrase to describe my feelings would be "style over substance". Even though I do not care about it now, I genuinely hope it does well for those who are interested in it.

So with this game being out in like, a week or so do you think it's going to be good? I'm pretty much unhyped for this game what with all this stuff about poor framerates, black borders, poor previews, 'just another third person shooter' etc. but still, I only make up my mind when I've actually played it myself. :p

It's a pretty big exclusive and it definitely looks cool(are Gothic Victorian settings becoming the new military brown?) so there is definitely hope that this game will flush away some of the bad taste of last year's disappointments.

So, any of you looking forward to this game? Or, what is your impression of it so far?
no. played a final version of it at pax prime and it was horrible. the controls are bad but its the 30 FPS and screen tearing that kills it. I mean im ok with sub par FPS but it looked like it was struggling to keep 30 fps(I really think it hit 15 at one point) and that's just not acceptable now. I say pass on it and put money towards just about anything else.

I hope The Order will be good, it has Tesla in it and Tesla guns. I kinda expect it to be alright though. I'll probably buy it, play it, and then sell it though; that's still a huge pro of console gaming, I can buy something Day 1 and it'll only cost me like $10-$15 instead of waiting for discounts.
Why not just rent if you plan on probably selling it latter? Isnt it cheaper? The game probably isnt that long either.

Wow, you guys are a bit negative today, aren't you? Meh, it looks like a horror-ish game to me. That turns me off immediately. But I don't know enough about it to judge how good it will be. Boogie2988 seems to like it, he actually played the game too. It was on his top 10 list, and I trust him a lot.

I think it will look beautiful but play like crap. Seems to me that it was created to showcase what can be done on the new gen consoles and not much else.

That said, I'd love to be proven wrong

I really like Gears of War and Uncharted, this seems to be going for the mixture of both things so I should love this game... notice that I said 'should' I just can't get excited for it, maybe when I play it it'll be a different story but everything I've seen/heard it seems like an uninspired attempt at a game that's not worth the time

I don't really know, to be honest. I'm interested since I do like the TPS format quite a bit, and I think it's got a neat art style and I like the supernatural elements it has introduced.

I don't think the game can really be bad since it's presentation seems to be well done and seems to have functional gameplay. My concerns are the regenerating health, and the seemingly needless and not-very-fun-to-use bullet time.

My greatest concern however, is if this game will be worth it? I don't have qualms against a single player only game. But one done in a TPS format makes me worry about it's content.

The last TPS game I played strictly for it's single player was Spec Ops: The Line. And even then, I got the game at around 35$. Played it through once, enjoyed it's incredible story immensely, and never touched it again. 35$ was a great price for what I felt I got. Will this game be a one-off, or be worth to play again? If not, then I'm worried the game would be worth a full price buy.

I'm still considering it though.

I don't Gamefly (monthly sub I think) and the only other place to rent is the Red Box I believe and a game is at least a couple bucks a day (I don't use Red Box)? Buying it and being able to play it on my time is worth the few extra bucks IMO.
