I say this because I was having a look at some trailers and there are so many zombies and addons around now, I don't really see why, why can't games add some stuff like werewolf, vampires etc just no more zombies.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
The thing about zombies is that they are pretty much the perfect game enemy, they are humanoid, you can dismember them as much as you want with almost no one complaining, their motivation is to just attack anything and not have any self preservation instincts, they are a horde that is mostly excluded from using advanced weapons and they are stupid, you can pretty much attribute any ai weirdness to zombies being zombies.

Uh... I guess. Zombies do seem to have become something of a go-to concept for developers out of ideas. But I'd say it's generally harmless.

Funny thing is, I'm still waiting for someone to actually make a really great zombie survival game. Well, I guess there was Left 4 Dead, that was tons of fun

Personally, I'm completely bored of killing zombies, mainly because they're always so incredibly easy. Now that I think about it, that makes very little sense. I mean seriously, if every "survivor" is capable of killing a hundred zombies each before they die (which they always are) and become zombified, then how the hell does a zombie infection ever spread?*

Anyway, I don't think there should necessarily be less zombie games if other people still enjoy them, but I've mainly been avoiding purchasing them myself.

[sub]*If your answer is that it spreads via an airborne virus, then well done! You have successfully removed the one unique, interesting thing that featuring zombies brings to your game/movie/book/whatever.[/sub]

No, if people didn't like them and play them they wouldn't get made. If they aren't your cup of tea, then don't partake. Seems easy enough.

No, I don't think so because I'm convinced nobody has made the right zombie game yet. Dead Island was looking to be what I wanted, but failed miserably. Why can't there just be a game where I can board up for the night and defend while zombies attempt to break through my barricades? Flash games have done it better then major releases.

Considering the question has been asked the answer is pretty much redundant.

But hey Zombies = Profit so why not stuff them into everything.

Your wish is their command!

Although if your wish was for fancy shootin' graphics you're shit out of luck.

Try out Zombie Panic: Source on steam. It's multiplayer and basicaly 3/4 of everyone starts off as human and the other fourth start off as zombies. You have very limited ammo, and any items you pick up will slow you down. You also have to use in-game objects to barricade doors and such. And when a survivor gets downed they switch to the zombie side. It's really, really rough for the survivors to win a round but still tons of fun.

There are always more zombies! Also, only main characters get super zombie-slaying powers. Everyone else just stands there, points and says "Oh god, what is that thing?!" before getting munched.

Anyway, I like zombies. They combine the simple joy of laying into a massive horde of humanoid enemies without any hold ups over stuff like morality. Dead Rising is basically the king of this.

"I wanna kill zombies by shoving a shower faucet into their head and watching the brains run out!"
"By god man, you sicken me! They use to be people!"
"Psssh, yeah, sure. But now they are zombies! Who cares?!"
"Hmm...not me! Ha ha, chop chop non stop!"

I was really bored of killing zombies. And then I played Plants Vs. Zombies. That was a great game. Now I'm REALLY bored of killing zombies.

That's beacuse people become ace zombie killers over time. At the start of an outbreak, people have the nice easy option to run away. Mainly beacuse if there is only one zombie and 50 surviors, why should you risk your neck? After the numbers dwindle, eventually its gonna be the other way round and the one guy left is gonna have to kill those 50 if he wants to live. Thats why the "survivors" are always baddass zombie killers.

OT, I like zombie add-ons in games, just as long as they take an effort to make it enjoyable and not just a cash grab.

Because they have yet to make a good zombie game. You can't do vampires and werewolves because twilight has tainted those creatures for the forseeable future.

I don't see why they keep spamming zombies everywhere, they are never in survival horror games, or if they are, they are a default fodder enemy.

I am waiting for a good open world zombie game that would aproximate what The Walking Dead should be, but I think Telltale games is making their walking dead game, which is more WD fanservice than a zombie game.

The weird issue is that it is coming off as a fad not a genre, and it will burn out before it even scratches the surface of the fandom. Think how different Dead Rising would be if bites mean you die.

there's lots of them, I'll give you that. However, very few of them are actually good... zombies are a brilliant mechanic for games but they are almost consist of a fixed philosophy that consists of:

'LOL ZOMBIES! ZHOOT THERE FACEZ ROFL!'

For example, take Diary of the dead, a zombie film in which a bunch of Americans run about shooting zombies with surprising accuracy for teenage media students. Now look at 'The Walking Dead' an amazing show that blends awesome zombie gore with deep impressive and genuinely emotional story and characters.

If we got some deep, realistic games about the zombie apocalypse, we'd be swimming in gold waters! Rockstar would be awesome at a game like this, I think.. perhaps Ubisoft?

Yeah, the whole zombie thing has long since gotten irritating. Too many books, too many games, too many movies. I'm thoroughly sick of seeing them everywhere.

Consider it training for the coming apocalypse. There is no such thing as "too much training". This is why I find new and inventive ways to play Fallout3/NV and L4D. My attention has been focused on Rage in recent days, but again: Training, training, training.
