Yes . Well no no technically . But once games become Digital download only i will stop buying new games . That being said , i understand why DD is the next logical step and why people like it . But i for one love having physical copies of my games . When that is no longer possible then and only then will i quit . But not entirely ,more like i'll retreat to retro gaming . I'll buy games for previous generation , and replay all 300 sum games i currently own .
I know what you mean I dread digital downloads, nothing can beat a hard physical copy. What if your memory unit gets lost or your data gets wiped? All that money you spent on games pissed down the toilet, that and it will be much easier for developers to take the piss if everything goes digital.
What if there's a fire or a burglary and all your games get stolen/destroyed? Having an online profile and cloud saves is possible these days so there's no need for the hysteria. Physical copies get broken at times. Digital copies got an advantage there. Digital copies may be impossible to download if the provider goes bust. There are risks on both sides, but physical is far from perfect.

OT: I'll probably stop playing video games at some point. I don't play nearly as much as I used to so the process has already started.

Not very likely. Yes, I'll play them less, as I'm already doing compared to two years ago (thank fuck, because that sucked the fun out of games) but I think I'll always have a certain fascination with the medium. It just has so much potential. Who knows, I might even make my work out of it.

Absolutely.

As soon as the next gen consoles come out and establish themselves, then I'm outta here. I skipped several generations prior to this one, and honestly, what with the state the industry is getting itself into (War on pre-owned, DRM, AAA titles becoming increasingly bland and repetative) I cant see my interest being maintained much longer. In fact, its on the wane already.

Still, I've had some good times. Sneaking around the Ishimura fearing for my life, Freerunning in first person, hunting for treasures with the Male Lara Croft, Hunting for treasures with the female Lara Croft (in HD!), helping Shepard save the galaxy (or not, the vote is still out on that one), beating up crowds of convicts in a single combo with the Dark Knight, and of course, beating people to death with a giant dildo. Only... 50% of these things I can actually do in real life.

All good things... etc etc.

I will be playing video games for so long that my grandchildren will have the privilege of pulling me away from the TV screen. I won't stop until I'm dead.

That and how, if you get banned from the site, you lose all the games you paid money for. It's also been kind of a hassle to actually purchase them, sometimes. My copies of BioShock, BioShock 2, and Psychonauts still never came through on Steam.

Anyway, I'm not giving out, like, ever. I actually plan to make videogames in the future. Those are the college classes I'm setting up for, and I've been working out countless concepts since I was a kid. The best ones have matured over the years (well, one of them is still strictly E-rated content, but, you know what I mean), such as Koro, and newer ones continue to form, such as Noble. I've even been putting up some of my visual concepts on DeviantART, and learning whatever I can about the industry before I actually become thoroughly involved. It's one of the main reasons I joined The Escapist! This place has so much information, wisdom and pointers!

Depends. At the moment we seem to be trending back to stuff that has a modicum of intelligence, so hopefully not.

Should we just keep being given more and more linear, more and more scripted stuff, then I would drop it out of disinterest, not because I'd grown too 'mature' for the medium itself.

Have you contacted Steam support and/or checked on the Steam forums? Were you charged? Did you get email receipts?

If games continue on the path they're on of over-saturation of a market full of games that aren't at all respectable while claiming to be art, I shall. Shouldn't take long.

The game industry will better keep me interested by the time I'll be in my eighties!
And they'll have to take into account my ruined sight, rheumatic hands, letargic reflexes, nonexistent short-term memory, senile impatience and a constant need for instant gratification.

Basically they can keep making them as they are today.

If the world as we know it ends tomorrow, I will find a way to charge my 3ds if I have to build a solar panel array to do it.

Highly doubt it. Games have been my life for a veryyyy long time (Uncles taught me how to play GTA and Twisted Metal when I was barely walking, so it came natural) and I plan to continue it for a long time, maybe even as a job in the future.

I'll get my kids into it, hell, i'll hand them my old PS3 and Xbox and say 'Play whatever you find. Get into it. Have fun like I did.'

Never.

We've even joked about this with a cousin about ten years ago; still honing times in a motocross games' time while in rocking chairs at age 70, if we'll reach that far.

No, I don't think I ever will. I may just get too busy at some point, but I'll always maintain my love for them. They're too far a part of my life, I'll never be able to just stop them. When they stop being good, I'll just stop buying them, but I'll keep playing older games.

It's like I never even clicked them. The best I could do was ask how to remove them from my cart, which took them about four days to respond to (and type only one sentence). I was very ticked. I wanted to buy Serious Sam 3: Deluxe Edition while it was on sale. Why would it take so long to write one sentence?

Turns out there's a "Remove from Cart" button below the... price, I think. I never saw this, because, I had a very dark monitor, even with the brightness and saturation at 100%. Now, I have a newer, better monitor that shows everything in its proper color and shade.

There are a few things I figured would lead to me hanging up the controller for good. If pay to win becomes a popular video game system, if they start charging for core features on top of the normal game, etc. Of course, those have to happen industry wide for the most part, not just one company. If a company does it I just cut them out of my "will buy from" list.

I don't think I'll ever stop playing but I'm sure the frequency in which I play and the duration of each session will decrease as I get older (and you know, get more responsibilities).

Been playing videogames for 30 years... don't really see that stopping anytime soon.
