Say for instance that you are a 13-16 year old gamer. Your parents are strict as motherfucking hell and will never allow you to play rated M games and "Just barely" T games. Also, they have to watch you play for at least an hour (Should I also mention there smart as hell? They could probably figure out every joke in Banjo and Kazooie) and if they hear one curse word, one sexual innuendo, the game gets taken away.

I know, that life would be fucking hell, but have you guys noticed that at the rate some of these parents are going, this is probably not too far of? So I ask you Escapist, do you think a kid would really miss out if he could not play rated M games? ( Lets just say he's mentally prepared for it)

Kids these days are already playing these games that are M rated because their parents fail. So I dont think anyone is missing out.

No...There are a ton of great T and E rated games.

All they're really missing is Bioware RPGs and shooters.

If i'm 16 years old, and innuendoes are still not allowed, there's something fundamentally wrong about it. Also consider the fact that, say, Ratchet & Clank series (solid yet E-rated games) are an excersise in double entendres. Does that mean they're also out of question?

My opinion is simple - if parents are reasonably strict, i don't think kids miss out on much. Only what you described is not "reasonably strict".

It's less like "reasonably strict" and more like a cross between Waffen SS and Spanish Inquisiton. If my parents were like that, i'd probably run away or murder them. Not because of games, but because i despise puritans and Nazis, which they seem to be.

I don't have an issue with it, so long as they are mature enough to handle it.

I meant kids who were probably in the situation I just described. Also, I should mention that the kid's friends are exactly like him too.

Yes. There are some games that are just fantastic that are M rated. Fallout 3 and Assassin's Creeds 1 and 2 are all rated M and they are some of the best games ever. If someone is prepared for the game experience, then why should they have to refrain from playing just because their parents cannot handle it?

I think younger games who aren't allowed to play Rated M games are probably heavily involved in a 1001 free 2 play online games and wondering WTF is with these old gamers and their dumb tendency to pay $50 a game, let alone $15/mo.

They'll end up playing the M games anyways out of rebellion against the strict parenting. This censorship crap is just delaying the inevitable

im 13 and most of my games are rated 18 (fallout 3, saints row 2, stuff like that) and i cant get into the lego games or most stuff rated under 15+.
i woudn't say their missing out its just that most higher rated games are better gaming experiences.

well im not aloud games with sex or nudity

I would say that these kid's are missing out I wrote an entire Thesis paper on exactly why every case is different and why there should not be government regulation on video games. Every child is different and so parents who decide that because a game is M rated that their kid/kids can't play it are just lazy and know nothing about their kids.

Don't play the game when your parents are around.

Don't play the game when your parents are around.
Also, your parents buy all your games and your broke shit. Please stop finding loopholes.

With that spelling it's 'E-Z 2 C Y U R KNOT Machure E-NUF 2 PLay Them'.

Also immature kids ruin team based games on consoles, as they are mostly p2p and I randmly get matched up with kids who, to put it kindly, are loud, prone to complaining and suck. Just because I can mute their whiny voices doesn't help when I get rammed by the kid in front of me driving in reverse at the start of a race FOR FUN. Makes me want to get a pc and join a moderated server for big boys only....

Granted there are adult who act this way but I'd say they're slightly less prone to it.

Hehe I'm playing Dominating Blazblue and my 13 year old cousin asks "Aren't you a little old to play a cartoon game? Don't you pay mature games like cod4?"
