Life gets in the way of achieving any sort of fame here, which is why the 5 months I've been active haven't resulted in very much :p

No and i want to keep it that way. Max may have his entourage of followers, which might be useful if he ever got off his ass and made them do something for him, but whats the point? Id rather have a few close friends than a large party following me around as their king of the internet.
Just be thankful this isn't /b/, else you'd end up like Boxxy. And does anyone really want that?

Well of course as proud ruler of the site I am known by all my subjects, loyal or not.

WHAT! Do you mean I have not ruled the site yet? Well, scramble the troops and make a push toward the castle with the Pony Badges and in success give them to all my friends. Except Sky, she does not get one.
That's just mean. Sky should get a Pony Badge, she's epic enough to deserve it. As am I... [/subliminal_messaging]

Also, fixed your post :D

I would say I am. At least, I think I am. The fact that makes me proud is kinda sad though...

If you were to ask several months ago, I would have no doubt that I would be known. Today, I'm certain folks like xitel and MaxtheReaper have quite a bit more popularity.

If you ask me who I think is popular, I couldn't help but remember the faces I looked up to in my early days, like Fire_Daemon, mjhhiv, PurpleRain, Larenxis, RAKtheUndead, Gigantor, SimuLord, and other such Gonzos and celebrities.

Since thing, I've found that far too many people have far too many of the "exclusive" things like Thanks! badges or posts that I don't have any good physical warning signs for good posters. So I just look at names now. I'll always have people I aspire to be more like, wilsonscrazybed and nilcypher unquestionably among them.
As always, you make a very good point, Nuke. A lot of the people you mentioned (especially Purple Rain and Larenxis) are people who I still look up to, and although I can't say the same for other people, they appear to still be very active within the community (since of course, it's not post numbers that matter, but how much and how well you actually contribute positively to the Escapist Community that counts). However, no matter what happens, there will always be people to aspire to. I personally never thought I was well known in any way here, until somebody posted a comment saying I was one of their more well known faces (earlier in this thread, actually), and someone made a comment about my being well known earlier on the IRC. But it doesn't really matter overall how popular we are and how well known people become, what matters is that we all continue to enjoy our time here, have decent interesting discussions about relevant topics, and just generally contribute in a positive way to the Escapist Community. And some people can do that with few posts, some do it with plenty. As long as we continue to uphold the reputation of the Escapist, then it's fine by me. And I'm sure many of you feel the same way :).

New I have to say I recognize you immediately for your well thought out and well written posts. Also since your status is Vault Legend which made me question the possibility of being able to get mine changed as well.....

I haven't seen you on in a while. Not sure if that helped.
Neither have I, I wondered if you had abandoned us all together.

I've noticed Xitel on a fair amount recently, so I don't think he's abandoned us... It's like, I'll go for ages without seeing a post from Danzorz, for example, but then find he's been really active all that time. And so on...

Haha, no I really have cut back on my posting these days, but no I haven't abandoned the site. I've noticed a lot of my posts are in threads about homosexuality recently, and most times I just read threads without posting. So just remember, I'm keeping an eye on you. That and I'm hanging around on IRC a lot.

I'd say I'm relatively well know. Probably not as much as some people make me out to be, but I've been around for a little while.

If I was to point out people who I consider "Iconic" there'd be quite a list. I'd wind up with about 20 people. Short list runs Xhumed, Logi, Van, Necros, FeNinja, Nuke, Wilson, Doki, Joe, Josephine, Khedive, Dingo, PurpleRenxis, John Galt and Khell. Of course the staff are on there too.

Oh yeah, I think I'm probably pretty famous. You know, having the amazing ability to turn invisible and create ignorable posts that aren't even mildly funny makes for great fame and prestige. The kind of prestige you can buy fame, money, and prestige with.

In all seriousness, no, you've never heard of me. And we have an IRC channel? Dear god I'm out of the loop.

People keep mentioning this army I supposedly have, but I've yet to be contacted with a notice asking where they should attack, or anything similar.
Max, you left us stationed in Antarctica. Can you move us some time? The penguins are getting ready to retaliate and I don't think we can hold them off.

Only among the older crowd, and barely even then.
How could we not know the King of the Escapist?

I was writing a rather long post and when I tried to delete an S it went away so I'm going to give a sumeray of what that post was.

I used to be known to a degree, not well known anymore because I don't post much and there are way more users now and with them many more posts and threads making me rarely seen. I'm glad I'm not famous anymore for many different reasons, most of which allowing me to enjoy the Escapist as I see fit instead of posting a whole lot and making 'awesome' threads (my thread always die quickly though).

Good to see a circle jerk after so long though, brings back memories.
