So the jokes about the uncertainty principle as people have said, which is that you can't properly measure the speed and location of stuff in quantum mechanics at the same time. So when he looked away from the road and checked speed, his completely lost track of location?

Do I win? Though gotta say the idea could work for a joke but I think you need to rewrite it, not all that funny.

I saw some math pick up lines that had to do with calculus that I found pretty funny, can't remember them though.

I appreciate you guys taking time to respond to my forum but I'm more looking for jokes which require specialised knowledge and who finds them funny. Mine was just an example and doesn't need to be explained but thanks for your effort

velocity and position you cant know both the more you know about one the less sure you can be about the other.

This isn't your basic high school physics that the joke is suppose to be about. It's far more advanced than the physics I took in college (Univeristy/Spiral physics) and that required 2 levels Calculus. This is more on the theoretical side physics and having to do with quantum theory or something. It's probably a joke that my brother (being an extreme nerd) would understand but I don't. And I don't want to know how it's funny either to save myself...

Dude you really need some sleep, humans need like what 8 hours of sleep everyday?
...at 17 you're supposed to be getting around 9-10 hours.

"Screw that!", I say.
Alright dont come crying to me when your health breaks down faster at the age of 30(or earlier) :p

I usually get science jokes (I get yours) but I very rarely find them very funny though I do on occasion (also, I love xkcd and generally find it funny).

Why on earth would I do something like that?

Besides, it'll likely be around my 50's, which would almost be okay with me.

Passed.

Anyway...

No I don't get it, having looked at your name though, I have an inkling.

I assume it has something to do with the idea that matter can instantly be transported or changed or soemthing? Pretty sure it was quantum physics? But I'll be honest and admit that I've only studied very basic physics, like Newton's Laws, Brnoulli's Principal, the Magnus Effect etc.

EDIT: Yeah ok I was off. And am dissapointed in myself, I opened the page a little while ago an missed out on a bunch of previous posts which explained it, having now read them I feel like a dolt as we covered (very breifly) Heisenberg in Chemistry.

Maybe that's why I didn't think of it? I don't know, but oh well.

It's a good start for a joke, but as others have said it needs better comedic structure. Perhaps also just say, he was driving on the highway.

Edited for spelling

What the hell does my name have to do with anything and by 'passed' I mean that it was a hard course and I was one of the few people who would get the jokes told by the teacher.

I have made a, admittedly, nerdy science joke which gets a dichotomy of reception. It goes as follows:

"A Physicist is drving down the Eastlink (Highway in Australia) he looks down to check his speedo. When he looks back up he's in Sweden"

This joke is based on a scientific concept, and I know that it is very sad that I find it so funny.

My main question is, do you guys get it? Find it funny? And have any jokes like it?
Ooh! The Heisenburg uncertainty principle or something? One cannot simultaneously know both the momentum and location of a particle/object? So when he checked his speed his location became unknown, so when he looked up and re-established his location, he could have been anywhere (it just turned out he was in Sweden)

EDIT: Dammit Epic Ninja'd (I really should read the other posts first)

EDIT2: I guess I was too concerned with my posting speed than with my posting position ... ay, ay? [small]I'm going to go cry myself to sleep now :([/small]

My bad, that was terrible formatting of my post.
What I meant was:

"Passed.

OT: Anyway...
No I don't get it, having looked at your name...."

The only thing in my post that I intended to direct at you by quoting you was the correction of the way you spelled the word: passed.

My bad. Sorry for the confusion.

lol You spaz. He means he gets the name of the OP in relation to his question and his passed thing was him correcting your spelling in your first post.

OT: I pretty sure this is way above my level of education, kinda irritates me not knowing what people are talking about haha

My first thought was speedo not being speedometer, and a European joke pertaining to that type of swimwear...

I know I'm wrong I'm just stating my first thought...

my first thought when I hear a science joke is-

"A Neutron walks into a bar and asks 'how much for a drink?' the bartender looks at him and says 'for you? no charge!'"

ha ha my sides... it was funny the first 8 times...

That's the reason I didn't get it, I've never heard of a speedometer referred to as a speedo.

I'm stealing this as an example of a funny science joke.
