Do you use the auto-aiming features (auto-lock on, aim assist etc) when playing FPS and Sandbox games? For the most part I dis-able the auto-aim features as soon as possible. though I sometimes keep aim-assist on.
For example, both times I played through GTA4 I turned off the auto-aim right away and stuck to free-aim. But on the Bio-Shock games I kept aim-assist on, and for the M-rated Call of Duty games (Modern Warfare, World at War and Modern Warfare2) I used the quick-aim lock-on feature.

never on FPS games. and rarely on anything else. just cause 2 forces me to use it, but i'm not bothered about that seeing as the gun fighting on that isn't the best in the world!

CS has aim assist.
Hah! Just messes up my headshots...
GTA IV has auto-aim.
Hah! I have balls!
Call of Duty has aim assist.
Hah! It changes targets on me!

So no.

It depends on how good the regular aiming is, if I can hit stuff without then I tend to turn it off.

I never do and I leave rooms that have it enabled. I think it's cheating in a way.

On a couple games I do, like in Resistance: Retribution, because it would be really hard on my thumb to play without it.

I take it off on everything but Just Cause 2. Impossible to do it any other way on that, but for the rest, it just gets in the way.

Us PC gamers do not understand what this "auto-aiming" business is about.
I am too confused about this term, is it an obscure way of selling your gaming soul?

Depends on the game. I don't play FPS games, but I turn it off in games I play that have it, in most cases.

I keep it on for sandbox games like inFamous and Just Cause 2 because the enemy will spot and shoot you when they're about 4 pixels high. Always turn it off on FPS games.

I would not care if it was, for I have already sold my soul.
