No. It's distracting and a waste of electricity. Sometimes I listen to the radio while doing Photoshop work, but generally silence is best.

Don't have a telly in my room anymore, but I find this [http://www.rainymood.com/] to be good.
Why do I need that when I can just open my window? Seriously It was pouring down last night and I coudn't sleep.

I normally multitask. Right now I'm playing Plants Vs Zombies on my Xbox, and I normally take a few breaks and just leave the music playing in background.

I do it for EVERYTHING! Homework, Reading, Cooking, Exercising. I just can't concentrate unless I have background noise or something going on around me. I even listen to my ipod while I do it.

I need my background noise to do most things. I do not even have the TV on loud enough to hear what is being said and yet the background humdrum of people talking is somewhat comforting.

Maybe with living alone and spending most of the day with some form of media, it is hard to to be alone with just thought for prolonged periods of time.

I have heard that mass media is turning us all into multitaskers though.

It depends, if something I watch is on (such as family guy) I have it on, and I also have it on when I start to go insane due to the quietness. I even have it on during late night l4d a thons, its like a comfort thing.

Most of the time I just go with music, if I'm playing a game on the laptop. Which doesn't run a lot, mostly use it for World of Warcraft.

Thank you. This website is amazingly helpful.

Also, I don't do it a lot now, just because I don't want to have my PS3 on, and if I leave it off I hate seeing the blue screen light up my whole room. But it's very comforting to hear.

I don't.

I *hate* the TV on when nobody's watching it.

I play my laptop in the living room, the same room that my older brother plays the Xbox and keeps the TV on for no reason and oh god so much unnecessary noise and I hate hate hate it.

When I'm alone on the computer it's either complete silence or quiet music in my headphones.
