Do you use your cellphone 100%?

I wondered how cellphone companies like Sony Ericsson think when they cram in all of the soft/hardware in their latest cellphone. For example, I have a year-old W850i. I was bored one day so I decided to play around with my phone, only to discover loads of things. I mean loads. I already knew that I could send emails and transfer files via bluetooth from the phone to the computer, but you can do so much more: Apparently you can send pics from the camera directly to your own blog, you can use you phone as a modem, you can somehow chat with other Sony Ericssons in the area (not sure about that one) You can mix up your own songs, and edit photos and videos.

So, I thought to myself: Do people actually use their cellphones 100%? Or do they simply use them to call and text people, maybe play games,listen to music and take pics and from time to time use the calculator because they have nothing similair in the vicinty? Or do they actually use every single function of it? Do you? Tell me!

I have a four year old samsung that I just text and occasionally call from. I don't need to be that connected.

Yes, I do use every function of my cellphone. I have that new £20 thing that does nothing but call and text, and spells out the numbers with a slightly newer version of a 7-segment LCD display. It's thinner than that Motorola wafer-phone, though. Hooray for anti-technology.

The Nokia 3310 is probably the best cellphone ever, its cheap, it calls, it texts, it has snake and it never breaks. I wish i had one.

All i really want from a phone is:

Texts, phone book, phone calls

What i also want is:

Battery Life
Robustness

There doesn't seems to be a phone like this on the market though they are all flashy, huge colour screened, low battery life piles of crap.

How come 5 to 10 years ago you could get a phone to last a week now the battery dies after a couple of hours calls? Why do phone companies obsess about crap that few people use?

Maybe i am just not into phone tech though...

Lightbulb, there is a phone like that. it's sammy's choice: the Nokia 3310. I have one, but without the SIM card, and I'm glad about it. I don't have a cellphone for myself, nor want one. Also, newer cellphones that play mp3s, video and take picture are, in my opinion, a load of crap. They don't playback the songs with a good quality (not as good as specialised players), the pictures are usually very pixelated, and the videos as well. You'd be better off having a digtal camera and an mp3 player, and of those old, really cheap cellphones. In conclusion, since I don't have a cellphone I use it at 100% and 100% of the time. Sorry for the rant.

As I don't have a cellphone and don't plan to get one, do I qualify as a "yes"? Or is that one of those "zero divided by zero" things in math?

The MP3 player feature in my cellphone is pretty neat and I'd use it... if it acted like an actual mp3 player.

Pros: Straight MP3s on my MicroSD card. No converting, no weird software, no bullcrap. Most MP3s work perfectly. They can play out of the speakers, which is quite nice.

Cons: Can't use normal headphones (most phones, including mine, sport a 2.5mm headphone jack)
Battery life suffers quite a bit
2GB cards and up aren't supported
No auto-pause if the headphones come unplugged.
Takes several clicks from opening my phone to the media player, to start playback
Shares space with my camera phone's photos, but with 1GB this isn't really much of an issue.

Other than that, hey, it's a nice phone. I wouldn't turn down the MP3 function if they just hand it to me on a silver platter.

Other things like games and crap are DLC, and Sprint charges 3 cents per kilobyte without a "Power Vision" (Internet) plan. My phone also has a music store built right into it where I can buy music, at $1. However, without an internet plan, say I buy a 7,000kb (7mb) song. That download would be $1 for the song, and $210 in data charges. Sweet.

I use a lot of functions on my phone. I call, I text, I use it as an alarm, I record sound, I calculate, I check time zones, I calculate tips, I compare measurements, I take pictures... I don't play the one game on it because it sucks, and I don't download anything, but I get a lot out of my phone.

My old phone had Snake, that was awesome. My friend's phone used to have Bounce, and that was pretty great too.

I got a smartphone for the agenda functions. I use the agenda, alarm clocks, play solitaire, make calls, send text messages and have a few pictures on it...but rarely use it for that. I also have a good list of emails, addresses and phone numbers in there. It even have GPS, which I also use. Thats quite a bless actually, to never get lost again (it also works when I walk). Downside of GPS is that it sucks the battery dry. If I only make a few calls the battery lasts for four to five days.
If I get a new provider, Im not gonna switch phones, but go for a cheaper bundle. Also, if I need to replace it, I either go for a smartphone, or a 'as simple as it gets' phone. The old Nokia (the call-text-play snake thing) was an old favorite of mine.

ok, i have an MDA vario II, which, while it cant hold a candle to the phone i had before i lost the first one and got dumped with this by the insurance company, has many many functions:

games - bubble breaker solitaire and worms (oh yes lectures dont get dull for me )

camera
google maps
calculator
PDF viewer
media player

thins i havent used on here would include:
excel and powerpoint since i find the poor phone doesnt quite have th ram for it
pocket msn because i dont use msn anyway
and any other features i simply dont know about and probably dont care to know about

so i would say i use my phone maybe 85% of its capacity?

Yep. I like it because I can open it with my chin, but I don't like it because it has horrible sound quality.

My phone is quite basic, although the fancier agenda and Internet functions it does have (in the case of the latter, because we're not paying for mobile connectivity) go completely unused whereas the one I actually want (games) is oddly absent. I only use it as a line of parental contact; however, as it's fairly often the only gadget I take with me, I really wish it included some way to amuse myself -- aside from fiddling around with the ringtones -- while waiting to catch the bus/be picked up.
