You can actually buy shoes that are advertised as machine washable. It's a desirable characteristic in some kinds of work shoes.

I don't wash my shoes - I tend to wear stompy leather boots (Cats or Doc Martens at the moment) and they definitely do not wash.

Depends on the shoes.

I have washed shoes that way. I would not wash all my shoes that way though. Somewhat erroneously, I only own three pairs of shoes. I feel I had to add that, answering a shoe thread. Oh woe is me.

Edit: Four, forgot the boots. Thanks above poster.

I've never even heard of someone doing this.

So, no, I don't do that. Seems like it would be too hard on the shoes/machine to be worth it.

Nope, I wear cheap shoes, so even if I did think this was a good idea, I wouldn't risk my easily destroyable shoes. I do like nice looking shoes though, so if mine get dirty I'll wash them off with a rag or something. Although, I never get all the dirt (Or whatever) out...

I mainly wear pumps and when they get really dirty (and I mean like white shoes turned to brown with dirt) I only wash them in the washing machine. But other than that I just hand wash them if they need it

Dirt and mud? Leave it till it comes off naturally. Animal feces? Scrape the bulk of it off on the ground. If possible I will use a garden hose and just scrape wash it off the ground. Never clean them often anyway.

Thats the way I was told you wash shoes. I have washed my shoes in the washing machine before. I hate how long they take to dry.

What? Who does that? I wear leather combat boots, so I just scrub them off.

I've seen shoes that have been advertised as machine washable, but never washed any of my own shoes. Don't really own any suitable for washing, and I'm not the most active/sweaty of people so there's not really any call to.

If it were me, I'd prolly dropkick the shoes across the laundry (if it wasn't busy) aimin' for the dirty corner(s). Never had anyone take my washing out before it was done (had it left on top of a washer at uni when I forgot to go collect it for a few hours). Now I live in my own house with my own washer... so nobody messes with mah washing :D

No...
But actually it might be caused by a fact that I do not own trainers of any kind. I own a few pairs of huge combat leather boots and 2 pairs of heels...
Yeah, I ain't washing leather (I own damp cloths and shoe polish) and heels would just damage the washing machine.

Also I have NEVER heard of anyone washing their shoes in the washing machine either.
It sounds dumb...

No. I don't, but I have once before because someone told me the exact same thing and I thought, "Why the hell not?". The sound was disturbingly loud in both the washing machine and the dryer, especially the dryer. I'd be too afraid to do it again. I'm afraid the shoes will break my machines. These machines aren't cheap. lol

After two months or so, I usually just wipe my shoes down on the outside and inside with a damp cloth, spray the inside with a bit of unscented odor eliminator, clean off the bottoms with a plastic butter-knife (if I have to), and let them sit out on the back patio table for a little while. And there you have it,.. that's what I do.

I can't stand stinky shoes. I usually wear converse so I just tossed them in the wash. They are fairly cheap and after a while they fall apart anyway so eh, not a big deal.

I pretty much only wear Chuck Taylor's, so yeah I throw them in the washing machine every now and then. On a low temp of course, and I let them dry on their own. Can't have them shrink eh?

Really? I must say that my first pair of Converse, now about 3-4 years old and used heavily, are still perfectly wearable. Most durable shoes I ever had.

Why not? All Stars are linen, perfectly washable.

Maybe I just wear them too much. I have had this pair for about a year and the black outer layer is torn on one side, the rubber side has come slightly deglued on another, and the inner sole fabric is torn to nothing in each one.
