Man, why is no one else complaining about that rushed-as-hell bit at the end with the kids magically figuring out the Clara is a time traveler? I mean, do you have any idea how much information they would have to sort through to find those pictures? And just because he happened to see ONE old picture with a woman who looks like Clara? Come on, now.

I actually like the idea, but the execution was just out-of-nowhere. I wished they'd foreshadowed it a bit. Something like the thing they did in season 3 where Martha kept calling her family. I don't know, there should have been SOMETHING other then a chance encounter with an old photo to make the kids suspicious.
I didn't like that bit, like you I thought that the out of the blue aspect was annoying. I hope that Neil Gaiman writes children well, I'd hate it if my fear of annoying children ruining a Neil Gaiman cyber a episode were true.

Still though, this was a really good episode. The Victorian 3 (as I guess we're calling them) were great, nothing was solved with the power of love (quite the opposite, really) and no real glaring plot holes as far as I can see. Yeah, I liked it. Not my favorite of the season, but still very good.
The entire episode felt a bit rushed, like watching a cross-over episode where you don't know the other series. I did enjoy it immensly.

If they had done something like they did with Martha's family, Clara would be a much rounder character, so, yes to that! The kids thinking she's a time-traveler however, isn't that much of a stretch in a world where WiFi randomly attacks and aliens publicly landed on Earth five years ago.

It sort of had that creepy feeling Columbia gives off in Bioshock Infinite, and it would have been fun to explore and really enjoy that for a while.
My brother noted that too!

Can't agree more. At the end bit I just went 'wait, did I miss something here?' and rewatched parts of the episode. But nope, nothing missed. Just 'hey, these kids figured out Clara's a time traveler...just...out of the blue like that'. And their first conclusion is 'she's a time traveller'? Really? Even in the world of Doctor Who humans 'know' that time travel is impossible. (well, until they meet the doctor and until very far into the future, but you know what I mean.) So it would have made far more sense for them to just assume someone in the past really looked like Clara.

It feels like the director just tagged on that little bit, even without there being a script for it, so he could hint at what the next episode would be about. Just a random after thought he put after the actual episode because he felt like it.

But oh well, the rest of the episode was great imo. A bit weird that the doctor isn't more averse against the violence and guns being used by his allies, as he's always been very much against those. But still, a good episode.

And it was all about poisonous slug goo at that! They were harvesting a crude form of EVE.

I really don't like this entire season so far. It's too full of Mickey Mouse adversaries with really dull settings, and bland story-lines. Please god bring in an enemy we know and love, (like the cybermen next week) I like the new species but my favorites always include the Daleks or the Cybermen. I want some threatening evil world beaters, not some weird slug that is attached to an old woman (ooh nasty) or some scary monster that hunts some woman who is both a ghost and an astronaut? I do like Clara but I don't think she's been well written. Stop getting kidnapped, and stop using the power of friendship for gods sake. I really don't care who she is either. On the other hand, she isn't Amy "look at my edgy attitude" Pond
I can see those children next week being horribly annoying. Honestly their thought process. "Lets search for pictures of our babysitter in what must be a massively detailed school library (with internet powaaa). Next lets upload these images and wait for her to walk in and see them, where we will jump her and announce with no wonder or surprise that we know she is a time traveler. We don't want an explanation, WE WANT TIME TRAVEL" Yeah, those kids won't be an annoying liability who get kidnapped but then have some minor input which is supposed to redeem them in my eyes.
I know I'm acting like a ranter, but I'm really not feeling these new episodes
