Great episode but i have to point out something i found weird, in Claras book of her ages going down from 1 to 24...it skipped the age 23...is there some significance there or just an oversight on the writers part?
Clara's hand-written adventure book skips age 23. She types the password wrong because she can't type 23. Last episode saw Clara dying on the 23th of November... the day Doctor Who first aired.

Okay, wow. I'm definitely tucking that one away so that I can act like a smart arse for knowing it if it's a big part of the story later on.

You saw it too! I'll admit I didn't make the connection with the 23rd November but not writing 23 and getting the password wrong I saw, thought there was something in that and now you've basically confirmed it!

In my mind anyway.......

I COULD KISS YOU RIGHT NOW! x
It gets better. The book also skips 16; years 16 and 23 are both years where the Classic Series failed to complete episodes, either through industrial action or temporary cancellation; 16 is also the length of the show's hiatus in years. If Clara is 24 in 2013 as her book suggests, then she was born in 1989, the year the series was first cancelled. The first year skipped would then be 2005, when the series was revived; the second year was 2012, when Ms. Oswald first appeared on the show.

The TRADIS felt so cold and sterile...kind of puts me off, its upsetting. The TARDIS should be a place of warmth and never-ending dreams, however it was not. Upsetting unfortunately.
Sorry for the double post, but I feel like this TARDIS (along with the new intro graphics) is a throwback to the TARDIS of the Classic Who, which makes perfect sense given the 50th anniversary of the series this year.. The geometric shapes, the symmetry and such. I can see why you think it's colder, but I rather like it. It's more mysterious and epic, which along with warmth and dreams are aspects of the Doctor and the TARDIS.

The main thing that bothers me is, why and when did the TARDIS change? When it changed the last time, it was because 10 damaged it when he regenerated and 11 crashed it in Amy's yard. But this change sort of just...happened, sometime after the Ponds left and before the Snowmen episode. I can imagine a few reasons as to why--the old room reminded him too much of the Ponds (but if thinking of them upsets him so much then why did he keep Amy's glasses?), or he had a fit of nostalgia just in time for the 50th anniversary special. I don't really care which excuse they go with, I just wish it would be addressed in some way.

I would say the TARDIS changes because the Doctor was changed emotionally?! But I agree, it should change with a crash or regeneration, not just out of a whimsy. However, I believe the main reason I don't like the new TARDIS is that it doesn't match Matt Smiths version of the Doctor, he is far too cheerful and up-beat for that TARDIS atmosphere. Possibly just for the big 50th anniversary? Like the new costume though!!

It was sufficient and fun.

Not one of the best since so much time had to be spent characterizing Clara, but the threat served its purpose.

I do love the new TARDIS. Very retro, but keeping a lot of the modern ascetic.

Looking forward to the arc actually. I mean, they sort of already started an arc with Clara's multiple resurrections. The Great Intelligence just gives a villain to the whole thing. I'm also hoping he's revealed as something clever and not just a new thing.

A tiny bit worried about Clara though. I hope she doesn't end up being too similar to Amy.

Otherwise, still loving it. Writing is as good as ever. I especially loved the scene where 11 makes her repeat "Doctor who?" over and over and over.

GUYS! GUYS! DAVID TENNANT IS COMING BACK!

I AM HAVING A FANGASM!
ZOMG

That makes me incredibly happy. Even if Tennant's beard is the most terrifying thing in the history of science fiction.

Also, I wonder if the girl in the shop who gave Clara the TARDIS phone number was a reference to Rose?

What do you mean "the Doctor not saving everybody in the data cloud?" Everybody was dumped out of the cloud at the end. That's why he trapped that lady in charge--she couldn't be released without the entire cloud being released with her. So he forced the workers to release her, and in turn Clara and everybody else.
They'd been collecting people for weeks/months/years (not really specific), there's nowhere to send some of them back to. One of the baddies (boss lady I think) says that to the Doctor and he just brushes it off because he's only thinking about getting Clara back out.

I loved the episode too.

But rumor has it smith is heading out.
We shall see
Well he'd actually be taking a real big risk of becoming type-cast if he stays in the role too much longer.
For career purposes, an actor shouldn't stay in a role as iconic as that for more than three years.

I like the new companion, and some of the humour was alright (although I think the Twitter joke'd've been better if it had been left alone, and the internet thing was pretty forced, but what do I expect), but they are both too energetic at this point. I feel like we need a character that isn't "ready for anything" and doesn't just jump right in, or even a Doctor who doesn't think and speak as fast (partially because that was sort of Tennant as well). A thoughtful or introverted character. For contrast. Is it just me?

Didn't like the intro either. -_-

I like every intro, I think.

You know that one episode where Jack H. rides the tardis through the vortex to the end of the universe?
They really should have had him hanging on for dear life in that intro.

They've regretted it ever since, I know.

The first person I thought of was

I don't think she ever had the phone number. But.

But. I wish upon a tardis.

This is exactly why I'm one of the few people who liked Rory. He actually saw through the Doctor's bullshit, and wasn't afraid to stand up to him from time to time. Plus, he was like, the only regular character in Matt Smith's entire run who doesn't worship the ground the Doctor walks on. I believe at one point, River tells Amy to "never let him see the damage", as in, "Never let him see how much his presence damages your life, because we don't want him to feel guilty, even if he's done something wrong". Good fuck, River's relationship with the Doctor was unhealthy. At least Clara doesn't have that problem. YET.
