I really liked this episode, but I feel like they ruined the moral dilemma at the end. Old Amy practically gave Rory permission to leave her, which makes it feel like he was doing the right thing, therefor happy ending.

I think it would have been much better if they had of left while old Amy was still banging on the door (possibly screaming "dont leave me!"). A scene of the TARDIS disappearing, then Amy vanishing out of existence shortly afterward.

Would have been a real emotional punch to the gut.

Hold on a moment, there have been "companion episodes" long before that. And Blink was Moffat, not RTD.

And while that would have been good...You've just given children an actual terror point and painted the Doctor as a bad guy.

There's one thing you have to remember about the Doctor. It's a kid's show. We can't explore certain things directly.

Yeah it was a pretty awesome ep, probabbly the best of the season. I'm amazed that Rory and Amy are still traveling with the Doctor after that one though! And How come they never get to just visit another planet without killer robots appearing!
I think it's implied there's trips inbetween the episodes we see, where they might do more mundane stuff.

It might just be because the first five minutes didn't record, but that episode seemed like it skipped a whole load of stuff. I thought it was rubbish. I couldn't really get much of a handle on it, and I didn't really care for the plot.

Also the robots were shit, and "this is a kindness" made literally no sense to me but they never shut up about it. Is that genuinely a phrase that people use?

On the plus side it had fairly dark themes which I always approve of. But paradox's (plural anyone?) piss me off, as well as describing time as "wibbly wobbly".

I have to say I wasn't expecting this. Last week's was Awesome (the Hitler one wasn't) and this weeks was just as Awesome as last week's. And I'm usually very critical about Doctor Who. Very Very Very Critical. We had Spooky, Sad and Spooky again.

I am actually looking forward to next weeks episode.

It'll be a shame when River (Mary Sue) Song comes back and they stop making these individually brilliant episodes.

As long as they keep making these random, individually brilliant episodes I am incredibly pleased.

Personally, I find it hard to say its going downhill when since its resserection we've had episodes like Aliens of London, Love & Monsters, Fear Her, all of Martha Jones' episodes (series 3 really had me worried) and Planet of the Dead. Between a choice of relatively well written companions being given a greater percentage of screen time or more Doctor with a companion who see's him as a mix of God and sex object, gimme Amy and Rory (and yes, even River) any day.
You didnt like season 3? really? to me that and the 1st season of Doctor Who have been the best with season 3 having the three greatest episodes of the new Doctor Who, those being "Blink" and the two "Family of Blood" episodes written be Paul Cornell.

OT: This episode was by far the best of the new season i dont think any episodes so far even come close!

Well, at least she's not hanging around to be the paradox that blows the TARDIS apart a few episodes from now at the climax of season 5. As soon as they were talking about taking her, I was afraid that's what would happen. I mean, yeah, that still has to be discovered and what not, but funny thing about that, no one seems too concerned that in the very near future something causes the TARDIS to explode all across time and space. We're remarkably keen to go pushing big red buttons with labels like "paradox" and "interrupting time streams" and "leaving the universe" (as much as I loved The Doctor's Wife) shortly after knowing that something soon will happen that will cause ol' Big Blue to go and annihilate the universe as it was.

Am I the only who that's bugged by this?

Think Timelord was held back by the Forums being borked.

I don't know.

Amy: Warrior Princess was cool but....

Meh.

Maybe it's just because I've seen that plot used so many times, but this season seems lacklustre.
It's not BAD...just very disjointed and the aliens/robots actually look worse than the rubber suits that they used to be made of. Both the Antibodies and the Healing robots just look laughable.

Just think there's too much Joss Wheedon slipping into Moffat's work. Little scary child, Ninja Hookers, Dumb/Dependable Men, Stumbling Zombie Monsters...

Not impressed.

Not wanting Davies' monstrosities back, but you can do so much better than this Moffat.
I kind of a agree, to some extent, but on the whole I still enjoyed the episode. Still, I'm certainly looking forward to next week. At least, from the trailer. I mean, creepy puppets and all that, while a little cliche, are something I've always enjoyed, and I was kind of getting 'The Shining' vibes from the look of the set. Not to mention I'm certain I saw a Weeping Angel in one very brief clip in that trailer, so there's more reason to look forward to it.

But as to this episode, again, I kind of agree that Steven Moffat, and his writing team, can do so much better. This is the man who gave us the Silence, the Weeping Angels, River Song, and the amazing (IMO) Anglican Church episodes, he should be able to retain enough control over his writers to do something better than this. I was getting a little too much of the episode Amy's Choice in this, which while by no means a bad thing (I also enjoyed that episode) it did seem a little wrung out and lacklustre. Then again, maybe the crew are just holding out so when we get the potentially (hopefully) outstanding The Wedding Of River Song at the series end, we'll find it all the more great for the improvement on the rest of the series. Maybe.

My problem with it is they were the only 3 episodes that were any good and interestingly enough, hardly had The Doctor in them at all. All the other episodes were went from forgettable (42) to rediculous (shakespears witches) to really annoying (Bloody Master) and none of this was helped by having a really boring companion.

I completly agree with you there, but i cannot think of an entire solid season of good "New Who" episodes, what is your oppinion on season 4? Because i really could not stand that season at all, alot of people seemed to like the two "library" episodes (I didnt) as well as "Midnight" (seemed like a budget episode instead of an awesome psychological horror), even still even if i did like that season it would still have suffered from the fact those were the only good episodes, speaking of which mainly all the seasons have only had 3 critically aclaimed episodes for example

Season 1: "Fathers day", "The Empty Child", "The Doctor Dances"
Season 2: "Girl in the fireplace" "The Impossible Planet", "Satans Pit" (actually that season was pretty damn good now to think of it, although still had its share of crap *ahem* Fear Her and Love and Monsters *ahem*)
Season 3: Already been said
Season 4: Already been said
Season 5: "Vincent and the Doctor" "The Pandorica Opens" "The Big Bang"

Fome season 4 is probably my favourite because while I enjoyed a lot of the episodes, it was mainly due to Catherine Tate (and when it was first announced I never expected to EVER say that!) Episodes-wise, Im only really a fan of about 1/2 of them. The Adipose were cute, Fires had a big "I won't change it" moment which I think was a first since the relaunch, Turn Left got me as I'm a sucker for "What If's", The Library 2nd library episode used standard film techniques (cuts, times skips) to great effect along with the "Big Damn Hero Moment" at the end & Journeys End made me want to throw something at RTD for screwing with Donna. Also Donna Noble was really refreshing after Rose & Martha and to me felt a lot more like what a Doctor's Companion should be, independent but stupid enough to need rescuing on occasion. As I said before, I thik the companions bring a lot more then people think and while its important to have a strong Doctor, I think the series quality depends a lot more on how well the companions are done.

Should be called "the episode that showed that Karen Gillan can actually act when she really has to".

Arthur Darvill was epic as usual.

Maybe the best glimpse yet at the Doctor's dark side, allowing future Amy to happen and brushing it off like it doesn't matter once she's ceased ever to have existed.
