I don't think the number would have much meaning for anyoner but a mayan astronomer.

And the mayans are kinda extinct at the moment.

No it doesn't, I've been raised Catholic, given a Catholic education, used to go to church every sunday (We try to go at least once a year now) and I support the Catholic side whenever there's a big flame war going on. This 2012 thing bears no significance to my religion, and from a logical point of view I reckon there's no way it's going to happen. So a few calendars said it, did you really expect them to write it all the way up to 55099 or something. And another thing, people have been saying the world will end since the dawn of time, what makes this 2012 doomsday crap any different.

It's not based on the Mayan Calender and only idiots believe that it is.
The Mayan calender just happens to end in 2012... There is no prediction for the end of the world... Their calender just had to end somewhere.
Fuck you, fuck the Mayans and fuck Christianity (and all religion for that matter).

Thank you and goodnight.

Disclaimer: Go fuck yourself.
Oooh, bad move there. Unless you don't care about getting suspended or banned.

I know that the 2012 apocalypse is based on the Mayan calendar. But today at school I saw somebody with a bunch of Christian symbols and then also the number "2012" stitched on their backpack which made me wonder if 2012 has some importance in revelations or some such
Nope. Nothing to do with Christian theology.

It's probably a political thing. 2012 is an election year and the "Moral Majority" is currently very sad that the president democracy gave 'em is nothing like their preferred candidates.
