Why mmorpgs, though? If you just have a PC, then go for PC games, like Halo and Portal.
You realized FPSs and even RPGs are different from MMORPGs. People play MMOs because they like community based games or at least interaction with other players, more than just killing them. If you don't like WoW then you won't like 99% of the MMOs out there, the only one I know that is different is FF11 but I heard that's dying out, I'm waiting for FF14, hopefully I get picked for the beta.

I have been searching for a good mmo for years. I've got high hopes for Huxley, you should try it once it goes open BETA, my current mmos are Flyff, Silkroad and I am also playing a game called Leauge Of Legends. League of Legends is not really an MMO but is an arena based game where you go up in levels by killing over players and minions, it really does take a long time before getting repetitive and is a lot of fun you should try it.

Well World of Warcraft is probably as good as they get. If I were you I'd hold out until a really different kind of MMORPG that actually looks good (I.E fallout online) because if you don't like WoW then you should probably steer clear of all other medieval mmos.
Fallout Online exists mate.

Anyway, Fallen Earth
Age of conan

No-one threw this out here so Maplestory. I found it shit, but if you like craptons of grinding its for you. Also try out a better game called Mabinogi, a game which gives you so much exp its like the reverse opposite of maplestory.

Aha played this a week back in the closed europe beta It was pretty darn fun but was not my cup of tea could not gte my head around the gameplay it seemed so weird to me plus most of the time I ended up sitting in the towns around a fire playing lute and socialising xD

I suggest Lord of the Rings Online, it's polished and fun, not much random, non-quest related grinding. It is alot more story focused as well, compared to WoW. I have found myself in plenty of interesting situations in that game.

Utter piffle.

City Of Heroes/Villains is a good casual, LotRo is rather excellent and has monster play, Conan/Warhammer have free endless trials, EQ1 and 2 are nice long-running games, Lineage 1/2 have some following, Guild Wars has a huge community.

Google Free MMO Trial and see which suits you best. You may even want to go with Eve.

I need to find a really good one, preferably an RPG of some sort. And for when somebody brings it up, I tried WoW; it was kinda "meh" for me...Any ideas?

Edit: I can't play any that you have to pay for, either. Otherwise, I'll have to give up a lot of things, ie my home and such. >_>
World of warcraft is the best one! it has the best end game content, the best raiding, the best pvp! there is a reason why WoW is the most played mmo and not slowing down its because it is the best! what don't you like about wow? if you haven't gotten to max level on wow than you haven't played it! playing till lvl 12 and saying wow this is stupid is not playing it! if you expect lvling to be fun than you shouldn't play rpgs! mmos are about end game content go play wow ragrah!

pardon my bad grammar i am very very tired :( sadface

First of all wow is very much better than aion and warhammer. warhammer may be fun for lvling but it has NO endgame content and the pvp is very mediocre. aion is cool and fun but there is only 1 end game raid with 1 boss with a 1% chance of loot dropping and i heard the pvp is eye gouging terrible

MMOs suck all together, only one game has ever been worthwhile and now it's a massive abomination of its former self showing no signs of stopping even after 5 years.

And the fact that no other MMO has even been able to step up to barely challenge this game proves how much of a joke this genre really is....=/

Wasn't crazy about FFXI. XIV is supposed to basically be the equivalent of the Burning Crusade, ie. a huge expansion. Eh, I'm not getting my hopes up.

I beg to differ. WoW is definitely one of the best MMOs in technical terms, but it isn't necessarily the best out there. The fun factor is determined on a personal level.
Personally, I found WoW to be a bore; Fiesta and Lunia are some of my favorites. And free, too.
A lot of the IRC regulars are into Dragonica lately.
