Of course we do.

Where do you think we get our potatoes?
Washington form what I've heard. I think they produce almost as much as Idaho. Besides I think we're the Gemstone state. In any case we're known for taking shit out of the ground.

I'm Swedish, and I have to admit that I do tend to forget about you. You're the Ångermanland of the USA.

At one time (I'm not sure if this is still true) Idaho was considered the most "accent neutral" U.S. English spoken state. People learning English that wanted "no" accent listened to Idaho English. U.S. English speakers with a heavy accent (Bostonian, Minnesota, Georgia, Louisana, Texas, Valley Girl... whatever) would train in Idaho English to "get rid of" the accent.

It's been at least 10 years since I knew that was the case. This could have changed since.
As someone who speaks the Queen's with a neutral accent, I can confirm that someone from Idaho has an American accent...

All I know about Idaho is that it's where Kirk is from and like all people from Idaho in fiction his one goal in life was to leave Idaho and never return (though in all fairness, this seems to be the life goal of a lot of fictional characters from the great plains/deep south for some reason).
So all you know about Idaho is wrong, because Kirk is from Iowa. :p

All I know about Idaho is from the movie 'My own private Idaho'... not much better I guess. :p

You are correct sir, these colonials are getting out of hand and not knowing that do not speak properly.

Edit: The last 5 minutes is NSFW and also why British TV is better than US.

Wow, Washington has the www.potatoes.com url, while Idaho has the lame www.idahopotato.com address.

Idaho, are you even trying?

Sorry fella, but all I hear about Idaho is how big its potato production is. Few games or movies ever have scenes there due to a lack of interesting scenery. Maybe if I was schooled in the U.S, but are they really required to learn all 50 states and all their captials? I had trouble enough with 13 provinces and territories.
In elementary school (somewhere between 3rd and 5th grade, I believe) you are required to, but I don't know anyone who can name every state without having to think hard about some of them, much less every capital.
Yeah, they make you memorize it, but like anything else, if you don't have any need to know the information, you forget it over time. I used to know all 206 bones in the human body and could name them from head to toe, and I could recite the opening to the Canterbury Tales in Old English thanks to my early education. But if someone asked me to do either now, I wouldn't be able to do it.

Of course I do! I share your northern border! Hi, Idaho!

But seriously, Idaho was the first state I learned, because I looked at an atlas as a kid, found were I lived, they looked to see which part of the US was closest to me. Montana was closer, but Idaho caught my eye because it looked weird.

It's, like, not the state Dorothy (in OZ) was from but next door or something?

After googling, it turns out it's not close. I sort of assumed that since I know nothing about it it's probably middle of the US, because nothing seems to happen there.

(I'm Finnish, by the way)

I'll admit I'm a little curious as to how well other states remember Ohio. Besides our amusement parks and the Rock N' Roll hall of fame we don't have much.
Well every national election Ohio suddenly becomes a super important battle ground state so everyone won't stop talking about it. So I always think of elections when I think of Ohio, that and I know a few people who used to live there.

OT: Of course I know of Idaho but to me it's just another state like any other. I would imagine liking it, probably because I could use a change of scenery from the hectic/crowded living conditions of California.

I intentionally ignore it but that's because I have an ex in jail there and I try to not think about it. But when that's not happening I'm fully aware of Idaho's existence. And the existence of the rest of the states and territories of the US.

Also I wish California would start getting ignored. Seriously.

Idaho is in the same boat as Nebraska. The only thing we ever get mentioned for is having a terrible tornado sweep through. Otherwise everyone pretty much forgets it's a thing. At least Idaho has some interesting stuff. I spent about an hour there while my family was vacationing in Yellowstone. It seemed nice enough.
This. SO much this. Farm states tend to get overlooked because our murder rate is so low (our neighbors are too far away to bother...), and nothing happens that would garner national attention.

Oddly enough, that's EXACTLY how I remember my 8 years in Ohio...

Idaho is one of those states I do indeed thing everyone forgets about. To be fair we have 50 of them. Chances are you're forgetting a few states right now.

I'm from Connecticut, so I have the advantage of being in the quaint, picturesque New England, with the past as a colony and one of the oldest states to keep it from being completely forgotten. However, most of the time, people overlook it due to Boston, New York City, New Jersey, and Rhode Island (all more interesting places) all nearby.

Trust me though, you don't want to be in the news...What comes to your mind with Connecticut and national news? Seriously. What about New York City? National news is usually negative, be thankful you don't have many tall important buildings or deranged shooters.

Oddly enough, people always seem to forget Rhode Island around here, and I'm not all that far from it. Further than you, more than likely, but closer than most. Then again, aside being part of New England, I have trouble thinking of things about RI even though I don't forget it.

This is true. A story from local Keene, NH has attracted the attention of the Colbert Report. Why? Because people are drawing chalk penises on sidewalks and allegedly assaulting folks who try and clean them off. I mean, New Hampshire gets attention during election years (mostly presidential primaries), but the rest of the year it's fairly quiet. And this is not what you want the news (or even news-like comedy programming) to pick up on.

Yeah we are the forget me state, imo I think one of the reasons outside of potatoes people remember us is that our state is shaped like a gun or boot. by the way you get the high five cause all of those were hilarious. also while I understand that most press when it comes to talking about other states is usually negative I would still like to have a little more tourism or something so as to bring things like comic cons or other conventions.
