I feel like the only kid who actually plays Halo with his dad or Rock Band with his entire family.

I've tried and failed many times. I got my dad interested in Splinter Cell and Resident Evil 2 and that was it.

Edit: I believe you mean their.

Yes, but my family is full of gamers. My dad games, my brothers game, my cousins game. We were all raised on video games. Tell the truth its the one common thread we all share.

I play with my brother sometimes. He never does too well though (He's no all there.), but it's surprising how well he does in a lot of games despite his disabilities. He can beat SW:Battlefront on medium, and hard with me helping.

Shows how complicated games really are huh?

It's because of my older brother and sister that I'm interested in gaming at all, so we play together at every opportunity. My dad also has a strong interest, even though his reflexes are shot; he still watches me play quite often, and we talk about games all the time.

There's nothing like hearing your Grandad trying to sing songs on World Tour when he's never heard them before, or seeing how hopeless both your parents are at the drums for the same game.

My Dad and little brother play with me all the time, but my Dad always gets pissed and leaves because me and my brother kick his ass.

One time, my dad and I played Wii Play.

He was clueless throughout, in pool he was getting angry at the game because it wouldn't hit the damn cue ball. He couldn't grasp the idea that you had to let go of the B button when you're about to hit.

Now that I look back on it, it was pretty stupid how you had to let go of the B button to hit the cue ball.

He also criticized the graphics, saying, and I roughly quote, "What do these guys want to do? Make cartoony stuff or make photorealism? What the fuck do they want?!?"

Oh, and my sister was watching us >_>;

"A great way to get your family into gaming" my ass!

I was at my sister and brother-in-laws last night, and we played 360 for like 12 hours straight, mostly Fusion Frenzy 2. Which I suck at.

My dad is the one that got me into gaming (and Batman, strange as it seems now). He played the crap out of the first Atari, then MLB for the NES. But he could never figure Mario out and I can't even get him to look at an Xbox controller. But it's really cool if your family games together. Appreciate it if you have it, because I know a lot of people don't. Personally I don't have a lot in common with my Dad, so it's nice that we can connect on a few of the things that are actually pretty important to me.

I've tried watching American football with him. .....Let's get the Atari out, please.

Why the hell would you want your parents playing video games? It's not their generation. However, my friends dad is a lv 72 in WoW

I got my parents and sister to try DDR once...my dad wasn't half bad once he got a rhythm going.

My mom has never been interested in video games at all, and my dad only likes stuff like Tetris.

That isn't a game, it's a job.

My brother mainly plays the Madden games and such, so I don't play with him. I did, however, manage to get my dad into Guitar Hero. Thank you, Guitar Hero III for having Sunshine of your Love, that's what got him in.

On the other hand, my friend's entire family, except his mother, games seriously, with him and his brother being console gamers and his dad being seriously into computer games, especially if made by Valve.

Me and my dad play the balance games on Wii Fit whilst drunk, as well as Super Smash Bros.

I can't play much with him because his hand eye co ordination is so bad he has to look at the controller to see what button he wants to hit (he's only able to manage SSBB because you can mash buttons)

As for my mum, she won't even give computer games a chance.

I do play games with my brother though, if that counts.

I do agree to a point. I don't need Mom and Dad in the room when I'm fighting Ivy in SoulCalibur IV, or watching the cut-scenes in Saint's Row. But can't we all just Peggle along?

I used to play my dad at Spellforce and civilization 3 when I was younger, but no not really, I can sometimes convince them to play a round of Wii sports (a round means one of each game).

I started gaming as a kid because it was one of the only things I could get my big brother to play with me. (He's 10 years older w/ no siblings in between.) I stuck with it more than he did and married a gamer dude, so I play games with my spouse all the time. When we were dating, we used to go to gaming cafes and I would school him in Warcraft III. (Then he would kick my butt in racing games.)

My mom's a casual gamer and has played Guitar Hero a few times. She's really good a Wii Bowling, and she's crazy obsessed with Peggle. We sometimes play games together, but it's not a regular thing.

Now that I'm a parent, I play *A LOT* with my son (he's almost 4) and plan to play with my daughter when she's old enough (she's almost 1). We are such geeks, we caught on video the first time our son played Pac-Man. We don't have vids of his first steps or his first day of preschool, but we have the first time he played Pac-Man.

I'd go into more detail, but The Escapist is doing an issue on gaming families in February and I might be writing a piece for it. But yeah, I'd say a lot of us who grew up gaming play video games with our kids the way our parents played board games with us.

I have a few aunts, uncles, and cousins that play World of Warcraft on the same server and guild. I had used to try to play with them regularly, but I just couldn't keep up. They live and breath the game, whereas I can only play for about a week or two before my interests shift elsewhere.
