My brother sent my husband and I Trails in the Sky but I haven't played it yet because it's on the PC. Not a fan of computer gaming. But I've watched my husband play it. If I run out of anything else to play I might suck it up and give it a try.

The art style reminds me of All Your Base and now I have that song stuck in my head. T_T But I don't own a Vita or PS4 yet. Might look into getting it next tax season(already spent this year's). I'm so far behind on keeping up with the newer consoles. We've only had the PS3 for about a year and a half.

COMPLETELY agree with you. This is why I liked older RPGs. The story, characters, and the battle systems seemed to be much more engaging. FF7 was the last of the FF series I truly enjoyed. FF8 was fine, but it got to a point I was bored more often than not(I know I'm going to probably tick someone off saying that, I know my high school friend liked it more than FF7). Then FF10 felt like I was spectating more than actually playing. I stopped caring about the franchise after that one.

Also I downloaded my first two DLCs onto the PS3. I got myself a couple of the classics I couldn't afford to buy physically. Alundra(which I am playing now) and Breath of Fire IV. Thanks for having me look at the playstation network for some of the oldies but goodies! I'll work on getting Suikoden I and II next time I get a little extra cash.

Trails is a psp game, it was just ported to the pc. I wouldn't really classify it as "pc gaming".

Ah I didn't know that. He sent it to us on steam so it's on our computer. Hadn't heard of it before he sent it so I didn't know it was on psp.

they've all been moved to handhelds, because there's a lowered expectation for graphics and old school RPGs don't care about graphics. try Shin Megami Tensei 4 (warning most Shin Megami Tensei games have a difficulty level somewhere between dark souls and "i wanna be the guy").

You seem to mainly be a console/handheld player but here are some good PC ones to look at:

Pillars of Eternity - not so much turnbased as pause based with a bunch of auto pause features.
Divinity: Original Sin
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Shadowrun Returns + Dragonfall
South Park: The Stick of Truth - strsnge as it may seem it has very solid turnbased combat mechanics, so if you enjoy the sense of humour of South Park this is a good RPG.
Wasteland 2
Valkyria Chronicles
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
Rime Berta
Agarest: Generations of War

If by "old school", you mean games like the old Dragon Warrior, and the old Final Fantasy titles, then no, I really don't miss those games much at all. I enjoyed them at the time, but I've since changed my personal tastes in games, and what I want out of games. Retro titles that try to play like the old games don't really do it for me very much.
