Oh man I had the I hope it doesn't suck feeling for DA2. A few days before actually buying the game I watched some developer commentary and heard one of the developers say "We are focusing on the combat." Instantly I knew that the game was going to be way worse than the original and like a fool I bought it straight away anyway.

I hope Inquisition is good and it looks like it might be but I still have the feeling that Bioware doesn't quite understand that DAO was good because of the story and dialogue, nothing else.

I've got that feeling about South Park the Stick of Truth. Been dealyed and hopped about studios and i'm worried it wont live up to the hype
Oh man yeah this one. I really love Obsidian but all these signs are suggesting it might turn about to be another mess, and I really hope that's not true.

Generally for all kickstartered projects (Whether I backed them or not) I worry about if they're going to suck because I really don't want people to be disappointed. In particular I'm worried about Torment: Tides of Numeria and The Mandate

Wouldn't a better question have been "Does anyone ever NOT get the "I hope this game doesn't suck" feeling?"

I don't know any gamers who have the level of optimism and patience needed to assume the best instead of assuming the worst.

That's me with Dragon Age: Inquisition and Persona 5. I just hope those two get done correctly. With Persona, I hope they change it up a bit but not so much that its not the Persona I know and love(1&2 aside). With DA:I, I just hope that it's as big and deep as they're promising. I HATED being stuck in Kirkwall the whole damn game in part 2, also the whole epic quest of the inquisitor thing is very welcome. I enjoy a "small story" RPG as much as anyone. I loved Persona 4. But with the Dragon Age line of games, I expect a world shaking problem to take on, not just the story of some bro becoming rich and powerful and one oh his homeboys starting a huge war, to be continued... Hopefully DA:I will tie all that up and get us set on an awesome quest for whoever you support.

Put it this way:

Mirror's Edge is my favorite game.

I constantly trumpet how much the game lets you take the non-violent approach.

I've seen the trailer for Mirror's Edge 2.

I feel the same way. Origins was a really fantastic RPG. A lot of promise.

Honestly though, it's pretty clear that EA | Bioware is taking the DA universe as far away from DA Origins as they can. Real time action instead of tactical dice role style like DAII. Simplified Dialogue Wheel so they can do voice overs more easily. Open world that really looks very similar to Kingdoms of Amalur from the leaked gameplay footage. Dunno about the stat system or skill trees yet, but I'm willing to bet that they'll be fairly simple and forgiving.

Whether it's a good game or not. I think it's pretty certain to be almost a different genre to DA origins. :( I really hate they're going for action RPG over tabletop throwback. It's such a waste of great lore.

I really hope that Witcher 3 will be good, and that Project Eternity/Torment and Wasteland 2 end up being fantastic.

I felt that way about Dead Rising 3. Everyone was going on about how awful it would be because of the air strikes and the lack of colour. I played it and well, there are no air strikes and the colour (which I'll miss) tries to suit the tone of the game. It means the story and gameplay don't juxtapose each over so much for once.

Every time I get involved in a kickstarter I get that feeling. (FTL, Skullgirls, Project Eternity, Planescape, The Mandate)
Every time I pre-order I get that feeling. (just Rome II this year)
When I look at Maia on the steam store, teetering on the edge of purchasing a game with no media presence, I get that feeling.

Any game with a trailer that has no gameplay footage. It's like saying, "here's something cool, but don't look at what you'll be paying for".

I'm definitely getting this feeling with Thief, I still consider the first two to be some of the very best the stealth genre can offer but the more I hear about the new one, the more it sounds like its going to be one of the worse ones you can get in the genre.

Its pretty amusing to follow the game though, they already backpedaled on two reveals that got a lot of flak (too bad fantasy elements are still out) and I'm curious to see if this was just bad luck or a really vicious circle they got caught up in.

These days I seem to have that feeling every time Blizzard puts out a new game. Their track record since Activision Blizzard became a thing hasn't been very good.

It doesn't but the way Gear Box releases DLC does. I bought the online pass thinking I get all the DLC nope just 4 of them

This game wasn't on my radar until one of the Devs said they'll use the Touch pad so you can circle through inventory and it will just become muscle memory. That was the only that sounded next gen to me about the PS4. We have utilize the controller to make your game play better. Its not just we got a new box that makes your game play look better.

So people don't think I'm a fan boy the only thing that made me think the X1 was next gen was when the Forza devs said that the rumble triggers will improve game play.

I know I'm about to ask an "Apples Vs. Oranges" comparison here, but should I get assassin's creed IV instead? Pirating looks fun. Not that kind of pirating, mods, the yo-ho boats cannon fire parrot on shoulder scurvy infection kind of pirating.

Depends entirely on the answer to one question: Does the GOTY edition come with the Krieg character DLC?

If yes, then the game is amazing and so far beyond hilarious that there aren't really words to describe it (though "NIPPLE SALAD" might come close).

If no, then the game is decent. It's not dramatically different from the first game, save for the story being better told and more fleshed out, and is just kinda there. It's not bad, but neither is it particularly good. Krieg as a playable character though is so ridiculously fun (and at higher levels so overpowered) that the game becomes a barrel of laughs and/or monkeys.

I don't want any game to suck :)
Anyway, I hope The Walking Dead season 2 won't suck.
I am 99% sure Dragon Age 3 will suck.
I am 100% sure Fallout 4 will not.

I got that feeling with regards to Arkham Origins. To be fair, I wouldn't say the game "sucks"...but it is by far the worst one of the trilogy due to the fact that they broke the combat. It was so simple, all they had to do to make the game even on-par with the first two is not monkey around with the combat, and they still managed to fuck that up all in the interest of "making the game harder". Breaking the tried and true combat of the previous games doesn't make it harder...it breaks the frickin' combat. Now Batman has no sense of priority, so he'll go after the guy with the baseball bat when you do Disarm-Destroy rather than the guy standing a foot behind him with the gun. He'll shoot the guy 20 feet away with the Batclaw quick-fire rather than the guy five feet away who's about to attack. And sometimes he just straight up ignores commands.

Dark Souls had difficult combat. What Arkham Origins did to the combat system would be like taking away the block and dodging functions from Dark Souls and saying "Well we wanted to make the combat harder."

I've lost count of how many times I've played through Persona 4, and Persona 4 Golden is the only game sitting on my PS Vita right now since I got the machine. While I don't think Persona 5 is going to be bad, I am unsure that it's going to be the penultimate experience that I got from Persona 4. I hope it's good. Hell, I hope it's amazing, but I just don't think they're going to nail it so perfectly like they did in Persona 4.
