I don't like caves or dark places in games, especially shooters. Melee games It's ok but just the thought that some creepy thing is gonna jump out and pwn my face really deters me from going to things like that. Even if I'm a total beast and can kill anything in a couple shots. Made Fallout 3 long as hell.

The clicking of radscorpion legs.

Poison headcrabs in HL2, especially the noise they make. Hate em.

Carp.

If you play Dorf Fortress, you'll know what I mean...
Ah yes, undead carp. Though I have worse memories of Rhesus Macques...

Oblivion Gates. Red sky and scary thing on fire in the distance. Nufff said.
They do lay on the sense of foreboding, don't they?

My in game fear is the same as my real life fear: Spiders. Big problem, because they're so commonly used. I remember one time, I was playing through resi 5 with a friend, and I freaked out about the spiders on the walls of the ruins. XD

Due to an upcoming retrospective review i'm writing, I needed something to compare Twilight Princess's graphics to. Now, I have not played Shadow of the Colossus since my PS2 broke, so I was a little hazy on the details, and from my memories they looked remarkably similar. But, memories fade, so I found myself on Youtube looking up SoTC videos. The one I watched was the fight against The Fifth Colossus, the bird-like one on the lake. Now as I watched Wander swim to the beast, I found myself getting nervous. In life, I love being in or on the water. In games? It scares the living daylight outta me. For one thing, you can't see if somethings coming out from under you until it's too late to get away. You can't hear anything, period. You can't access your arsenal underwater, thus rendering you defenseless.

Mine is a fear of open water in gaming: what's yours?

TL:DR Version: What makes you scared in games?
The giant serpent colossus that you fight entirley under the water must have really unerved you then, on that note same thing Being dragged to the murky depths of water by anything in games fucking terrifys me.

Being the last one alive. Especially on Guardian on Gears of War 2. When your leader is dead and so is the rest of your team, it gets the blood pumping, I tell you what.

My greatest fear is that I'll go through a checkpoint or something with very low health and then, as soon as I go through, I'll die. The when I spawn I'll die again and keep dying. The same can be said of a checkpoint right before or during a fall to the death. Neither has happened to me, and I'm always paranoid it will.
Let me tell you a story. It was Call of Duty 1. I had about 10 health left and was in the snow on a hill. On a separate hill, I saw some Nazis running at me so I zoomed in with my sniper rifle. Then it saved. They came over the hill and killed me before I could get a shot in. So I started from the last save point and tried to run away, but since I was zoomed in, I couldn't run until I zoomed back out, which takes about a second. In this situation, a second can mean life or death and the answer was death about twenty times in a row.

You'd be surprised, but this is the third thread like this I've seen in the past couple days.

I'll give you the same answer:

When my character can't move it makes me angry for some reason.

I just tried soloing in Nazi Zombies on Dier Riese(sp?), I couldnt get through round 4 I got so creeped out.
Once you understand them, they cease to be scary... OK I'm lying, the only way I can play solo is with the sound turned off.

Min is probably dark areas, or fog. Anything I can't see into. Especially when it's a game where I'm normally heavily armed, but left my arsenal behind for that mission...

Giant insects, although silly, can freak me out.

Fallout 3, hearing ants walking around, their giant legs skittering about.
It's a little unnerving for me.
This, And and kind of "Boo" moments. I hate bad surprises.

Shadows running on the wall, especially if they're headed around a corner. o_o You just know they're going to jump out at you, it's only a matter of when...

Anything that goes against the all too important law of death. (Death is forever, and dead things stay that way.) Zombies in particular are bad, but any undead stuff scares me.

The revving of a jeep in Far Cry 2.
They either turn the corner you're running around, or rear-end you off the road into rocky death.
