Does anyone here actually like Runescape?

It seems a bit weird to me that during my time in this gaming forums I've seen only a few mentions of MMORPG's, most of them being about World of Warcraft; and this kinda got me wondering "What about Runescape?"

Runescape; the browser based MMO with bad graphics and worse community, a place where you're either incredibly poor or overcompensatingly rich, terribly low level or unbelievably high level with no clear middle ground. The levelling system is simplistic, it requires you to turn your brain off to not get bored out of your skull, and it is in whole a slice of grind meat sandwiched between two slabs of grind bread; and you know what? I like it. It's one of those games where you can be sat bored with nothing to do and think "Hey, I might train my woodcutting skill to pass the time". It's basically an MMORPG minus the feeling of commitment to the game.

So, does anyone else like this game?

EDIT: For a nostalgia plus, it's probably how most people between 10 and 20 started their career in MMO's

I do genuinely like RuneScape. I love the art and animation. It's just really, really funny. Every year or so I have a phase of playing it for a few days with friends. We just do stupid things like have characters that are amazing at woodcutting and nothing else.

I used to love that game, was a member for about a year but I eventually quit when I bought Guild Wars.

I like it. Admittedly I create accounts with friends just to see who can get banned the fastest rather than actually playing but still...

I haven't played since I was around 13. And that was about 8 years ago.

I play the odd time, mostly just to have the odd chat with old online friends. I used to find it fun but it just a loads of grind to me now like all mmorpgs. Maybe the new skill will be something new and innovative.

Made an account, got killed, lost all my stuff. Day gone - but I knew never to play Runescape again... That was a few years ago.

First time I played it I thought it was alright for a web based browser. Then it just started to get annoying after a while (the people in it I mean).

I use to play it. Got to level 49 too. Then I realized that I was wasting my time playing a game where money either made you incredibly rich or ghetto. I realized that I was saving up gold for shit that nobody would ever sell me and my poor ghetto ass. I realized that I was playing a game where I would mine for 2 hours smelt for 1 and only get about 5% of the maximum quota of what I could get. I realized that in my whole YEAR of playing the game. That I only had enough money to buy a single boot of the best armour because I could only sell some daises and shoddily made leather boots because that was all I was able to make. I could also make a bronze sword. But who the FUCK wants a bronze sword? I barely had enough money on the game to support my characters crack addict before I finally decided that I was gonna go for the big gold prizes that were in the barbarian cave and I got it running through hordes of overpowered enemies with my beef jerky in hand. And you know what? After all that...I was finally able to buy the other boot. THAT is when I said FUCK YOU Runescape. You're wasting my life.

Heh, that happened to me too.
Then some idiot from my class convinced me to play it again (he's fucking fanatical about it and cant take any criticism about it) So i played it again for two months, got member too, but then i realised how stupid everything was, i could barely be a wizard (i'm always a wizard or something like it in rpg's) since i needed stupid runes constantly, and i hate grinding, so i didnt really have the money for them.
I somehow got my magic level to 42, but, then i thought about how stupid all the spells are anyway, all the goddamn combat spells are the exact fucking same except for a new color and boosted damage.
And teamwork, that doesnt exist in this game, a wizard wouldnt need to be defended by a fighter or anything, infact, he would ussually have just as much hp as a more fighter like character, sometimes more.
And i hate how people get rewarded more for grinding their asses off than actually doing interesting stuff, such as quests, i guess jagex likes bots nomatter what they say eh?
I guess that for a hardcore d&d player like me, this is just too simple, and there's too little teamwork and actual interaction for me in this game, infact, its pretty much an ordinary rpg, where you have to grind even more than in ordinary mmo's, and with a little feature to trade with other people.

Never played it because it never looked interesting but that's probably because I found it later in life.

My first MMO was Mu Online and that was a mega grind sandwich, I think the first quest started at level 120, which took ages to get to and even then it's a pretty lame quest.

i played Runescape for nearly 3 years during which i:
killed things
ate THOUSADS of cakes
and ground my Gp into the millions (coal mining+flax-bowstring running)

it was great till i noticed that Jagex stopped making things for medium level players and just made thing's for new players or godlike high level players. thats when i gave up...

They made something for new players?!?!? Since when?!
But i kinda agreee with you, they mostly make stuff for the uber epic awesome 100 level people who either bots their arse's off or dont have the trace of a life.
