I own A WW2 Japanese Shin-Gunto Sword Dated to 1944. It is complete with chrysanthemum (Meas property of the emperor). Its from late in the war so it not at good as the earlier swords. the earlier swords were nicer because the Japan empire still had recourses and not being defeated by the U.S.
I over-payed for it though. I payed $700 (after tax) its worth $250 (if I am lucky).
Although, I was at an auction that had a WW2 Japaneses rifle complete with bayonet went to a dealer for over $1000 dollars (I would have gone to $1500 but did not have the money). The seller was a veteran of WW2 and said he ran out of ammo he 'found' the rifle and used (I am being polite to my friends in Japan) it to get back to camp.
I do know that the chrysanthemum is not on rifle because Gen. MacArthur did not want to humiliate the Japaneses people any further.
