Does anyone really REALLY want another Final Fantasy?

So, on the subject of FF, they are pretty dang good games, of which I hope most people are in agreement, but come on. There's been about 20 now, is that not enough? Granted new storyline, new universe really in each individual game but, it's still... Final Fantasy. DO you want more of that? Why don't they focus their efforts on like... "Final Open World Sandbox In Which You Sometimes Come Across 50 Player Multiplayer Battles But Maintain Doing Whatever The Fuck You Want". FOWSIWYSCAFPMBBMDWTFYW , rolls off the tongue quite easily does it not? What about something like that, or more... grindfest...

I wouldn't mind. They're already working on #14 of the 'numbered' series - a new MMO, so there's going to be at least one more.

I've generally had a good time with the FF series, even #8 which I view as the worst of those I've played, so why not? If they stopped making them they'd just make more JRPGs with disconnected titles rather than the all encompassing Final Fantasy label.

Yes, the fans want a new Final Fantasy. It's the same reason that many mainstay series will never end (most everything Nintendo owns, for instance), because, despite some people feeling that the games become repetitious, the fans will never tire of them, and there's always new generations to rope in.

Yeah, I want more FF as it is. It's a good series.

I enjoy exploring the world and playing agame that is more then 'I have a big gun and I shoot things HERR DURP!' (Ignore my badge that says I want to shoot things, please)

You can take your statement about FF and whether we need more of that and apply it to anything else?
For example...
In Halo, you will always shoot aliens and explore new places.
In CoD, you will always shoot people in foreign countries.
In Guitar Hero, you will always be hitting notes in order.

And in FF games, you will always be exploring a massive world and following a decent story at worst. So keep FF as it is.

It hasn't done Halo, CoD, Mario and Sonic no harm, has it?
All still very popular over the years with many fans.

"Open world sandbox.." those three words have absolutely no appeal to me anymore. D:

I do want more Final Fantasy, XIV online is coming and I greatly want to get into that along with quite a few people that I have spent years on XI with.
I didn't much like XIII myself, but at least they are attempting to mix things up, maybe the next one will be the idea that strikes gold. Plus as you said, new universe, new gameplay, new many things in every single one, what would be the point of dropping the FF title? Fear of public attention and mass sales?

I'd be fine with them releasing more. I'd want them to definitely take their time though. No need to rush anything out.

At this point I'd like remakes of FFVI before any new games come out.
Seconded. I think i might buy that.

OT: I dont want another Final Fantasy. I say kill the franchise (like anybody'd listen to me anyway), make something new, something nobody ever thought of.

I dunno about that sonic one, they seem to have moved away from the elements that made it fun to begin with, and most of the fans (myself included) aren't particularly happy about it. Oh, and don't worry about the badge; mine claims I'm a pony lover

OT, I don't see why you're complaining that the developers of an RPG series are continuing to make RPG's for the series. As you said, they set them in new universes with new characters and by extension new stories, which in all honesty are the important parts of an RPG. Of course it is still Final Fantasy. Much like Legend of Zelda games will always (with one exception) be about a green-clad warrior going of to fight the forces of evil.

Final Fantasy has really taken a downward plunge ever since Square merged with Enix. I was never a hardcore FF fan but i've enjoyed several of the games but FF 11, 12, and 13 have pissed me off since they seem to be more about taking control away from the player and letting the game run auto piolt. and in FF 13 they even removed the exploration element so really i'm kinda hoping this series just dies so i can stop hearing about it.
