Does Crysis 2 seem a little bit... unoriginal?

Multiplayer isn't what made the original Crysis good, so take the demo with a grain of salt.

I haven't played the demo yet, mind you, but I'm very sure the SP campaign will be different than MP.

So escapist, what do you think of the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo?
I think it's awesome.
First off, there IS super speed. Your sprint is very very quick. Maybe it's not as accented as in Crysis 1, but it's there for sure. Super strength is also there in terms of your melee and your jumping.

The game is bad-ass, really. The level navigation, like climbing walls, sliding around, and jumping everywhere, is just epic. The graphics are gorgeous, the gunplay is good, and the powers are sweet. The cloaking and the armor are both handy, the energy levels drain appropriately, and I LOVE that grenades are on-hand. No spamming a grenade button. You want to throw one? You better make sure you're ready to be defenseless.

I'm really enjoying the game.
There are for sure some bugs and glitches to iron out, but nothing a patch can't fix.
I'll probably buy it.

If I had to make a comparison the game reminded me a a mix of Halo and CoD. I think it is fun so far. A bit unbalanced at times, but you get that with a lot of online multi-player FPS games. The cloaking is nice. It may just be a bit of desync in the games but bashing seems a bit off and bullet hits are random at best. I like the level design so props for that. Graphics are tight so Crysis 2 set the bar higher yet again. As far as the having a CoD feel to it, I think that has alot to do with the weapons available in the demo. Once you start using some of the Alien tech its going to be more interesting.

Original Crysis multiplayer: ::Spawn::
bring up buy screen... hmmm, I want a SCAR with sniper scope plus silencer, I think I'm going to do some sniping so I can save for a freaking Tank.
::walks out of base::
honk honk, someone wants you as a gunner in a humvee. ::Rides around in Humvee shooting at random people::
Gets up on a huge hill, cloaks, snipes some noobs. VTOL comes back and blows you to kingdom come.
::Respawn::
Oh crap! they are rushing your base with a nuke! You buy a bazooka and run to the walls.
Fire fire fire, you blow up the tank and save the day.
You are pro.

Crysis 2 Multiplayer:
::Spawns::
Walks around for a bit sees another player.
::Iron sights::
Fire fire fire he dies.
::Dude walks around the corner and sees you::
Fire fire fire you die.
::Spawn::
You get shot and die
::Spawn::
Sees a guy fire fire fire you kill him.
::Alt-F4::

IMHO

It feels like Call of Duty when killstreaks come into play as well as killcam. the perks are nice and original though and make sense with the context and if you start saying perks turn it into COD you might as well say that everyone is copying Wolfenstein for having guns in it.

If I'm honest, it is a good game and can keep me entertained but I have the Bulletstorm demo too and i'm finding myself wanting to play that a lot more, that game certainly is original and I think I'll be picking up a copy of that rather than Crysis

It's call of duty with super jump, stealth and a juggernaut you can pop when ever you want

I'd heard the comparison before trying the demo and tried to ignore it, but my god it is too similar it isn't even funny.

5 weapon classes - assault, smg, shotgun, lmg, sniper - SAME
3 ability slots/perks - SAME
controls - SAME
dog tag streaks - radar at 3, orbital strike at 5, gunship at 7 - SAME
customized dog tag - SAME
weapon attachments - SAME
killcam AND final killcam - SAME

Honestly I could go on - the only thing I really found fun/original was the impressive ways to move around the map with speed and jump. Other than that it's a cyber suit CoD

It's definitely different, yes, but I can't really blame them. After all, why fix what isn't broken?

The first game's multiplayer was pretty original, but it wasn't very good, IMPO. You ended up spending way too much time hunting down a car to drive across the map to step out and get shot by a cloaked camper.

While it made for a more "realistic" experience, it definitely was slow. Now the multiplayer is much more tactical.

As for the game alone, it's not bad. While it's not going to revolutionize anything, it does bring a few nice things to the table. Auto-climbing ledges, the dog tag pickups, all of that. Really, they're altering a system that works, which is all right.

Frankly, I won't buy it for the multiplayer any more than I did the original. Time will tell for the rest of the game.
I liked the original multi player for the strategy, tactics, and teamwork you had to take into concideration to win. Now it just seems like a mix of COD and Halo, which I like both of them, I always praised crysis on being good and diffirent.

I disagree, I really liked the first games multiplayer, but then again, I usually like games like that. I hope the SP campaign will be closer to the original, otherwise I will give a very heartfelt angryface to crytech.

Yeah, It does seem like that. How did they manage to make crysis that bland?

I don't care if it's unoriginal Many FPS are unoriginal. It doesn't make them bad games.

I thought the point of Crysis wasn't to be original, but to be THE benchmark for PC Gaming technology. After all, it's Cry-"Sys"[tem]. Boot it up and watch your computer cry tears of mercury from its CPU.

Crysis 2 has some originality sprinkled here and there (like the various functions of your suit), but so much is just copied from CoD. The custom classes, perks and killstreaks are pretty much identical for a start.

Yes but the first one pulled off being diffirent so well, it is disapoint. You know they can make it great, but decided to make it normal.

It was extreamly inovative in both ways, both graphical abilities, and gameplay... And I did lol at the Cry-sys joke.

I think it's perfectly made for its function; to draw people into buying the full game. CoD audiences will go "Sweet, this is like CoD." and less multiplayer-oriented people will buy it anyways, since the suit has full function when in single player, where there is no balancing needed.

Seriously. Wait for the full release before stamping it with a title.

Well I think the biggest problem with the demo was actually the lack of a tutorial, I think you probably still have roughly the same capabilities as the original but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to do anything!
I learned pretty quickly, the controlls are just like a call of duty game, with lb and rb used as armor abilities.

I haven't tried the demo or anything like that, but if what you say is true that really sucks.

Developers must know that us gamers want the next call of duty. When we say that we mean a step up in gameplay, while in first person shooter form.
Super Speed, Gone
Super Strength, Mostly gone, except sometimes you will do a high jump.
Weapon custumization, you create custum classes in the menu. (call of duty)
Call of duty type online.
and I have a real problem with the weapons, either they are super inacurate, or too acurate, except for single fire with the scar. I pWn with that.
These things

Super Speed = Sprinting and sliding on the floor and using weapon
Super Stealth = Right Bumper
Super Armour = Left Bumper
Super Strength = Jumping and air stomping

What was the other one again?

The reason it doesnt let you access the abilities as they were in Crysis 2 because its on a controller, not a massive keyboard, so instead of adding a little Radial that picks any abilitiy you want, they mapped it to traditional fps controls on a console.
