It doesn't stand a chance to reach WoW-fame, reason... Look up.

Compulsive gamblers who are in every real sense of the word addicted to the act of gambling will often curse and swear and grief themselves over the chore of wasting their time and money. It is 'fun' to them, but not in a way which someone who is not within the same pathological mindset would consider 'fun' upon observation.I just look at some of these upper-tier players, and I can't help but think "they can't be having any fun"
It is the same thing for most hardXcore players in WoW. It is 'fun' to them. They will play until they collapse from exhaustion and ***** about the entire experience. It's still the experience they most pathologically crave.
The odds that something will surpass WoW by virtue of being 'better' is not likely at this point since the Blizzard offices are appropriately researching and applying the nature of our brains and our compulsions in a scientific manner to the gameplay. It was the result of their psychological research that resulted in their newly mathematically calculated drop rates and progression times and even the 'shininess' of equippable items. A game that does not run this sort of skinner-box experiement on its players so exactingly measured to maintain the button-pecking treat-dropping environment that so readily addicts people? It will lose out to WoW because WoW is the better drug.
Nothing can be as popular as WoW, really, without aping this. Any new franchise that approaches WoW's popularity will do pretty much the same things with our heads, just with different visuals and canon.
What he said 7-9 were masterpieces of their types, 10 was mearly good and then it all whent wrong...FFonline just no, it didnt work and making a sequal wont either, (pessimism breeds happy suprise optimism breeds dissapointment)James Cassidy said:OH GOD NO!!!seitori said:Anyone think that this popular IP has a shot at chipping into market share with a new MMO, or is it doomed to fail?
*rips face off and run screaming*
Seriously though, Final Fantasy as an MMO is always going to fail.
I am glad I as alive to see FF7 through 9 because it seems those were the last of the best FF of all time.
What do you think the problems with wow are?wunderguy said:The only way a game like this will beat wow is for it to fix the problems with wow.
some class balencing issues gear from 25-mans, mainly tier, isnt a mega upgrade from 10-mans. Arena gear being better than raiding gear.Julius M said:What do you think the problems with wow are?wunderguy said:The only way a game like this will beat wow is for it to fix the problems with wow.
As a Resto Druid, screw that. I like being able to quest without having to spend 50 gold for itwunderguy said:some class balencing issues gear from 25-mans, mainly tier, isnt a mega upgrade from 10-mans. Dual spec.
Achievements like superior and epic
Still slow Gm times.
More things in patched need to be added aimed at the lvling people, rather than end game.
Some 40 mans or world bosses would have been nice in lich king.
Get your facts straight no one asks for perfect gear for every level, Just level appropriate gear.loremazd said:If it's anything like FFXI, then no, it will not be popular. FFXI was awful.
Wanna level?
Ok get a full group, to get the full group you must have the absolutely best gear available to you at every level. Oh also you better have leveled up your sub class to half your current level, and that you picked the absolute best sub class.
Why do you need the best gear?
Because in FFXI every death is 10 percent of your leveling experience docked, people will only party with those who minimize the risk of death. So, you'll have to use the auction house, that'll be 500,000 gil for that level 30 armor, because the Japanese have been at max level for 5 months before you even started and charge like crazy.
How do I get 500,000 gil?
Fish for moat carp, sell them for 3 thousand gold for a stack, each stack more or less takes about 20 minutes to get. Oh, also your fishing rod can break, but there's a less of a chance to break for one in every 7 hours. If your rod breaks you'll have to buy a new one for 12,000 gil.
Woo, I got the gear, after about 3 days of fishing! How long will it last me?
5 levels, then you'll have to do it again. Only it'll be more expensive. Oh also when you get to 40 you'll need to start hunting for your artifact gear, with such fun concepts as One treasure chest containing it spawning in a random place in a random cave every 7 hours, and only one of you can get it, or dragging an entire party through an unpopular zone with no reward for them!
Hehe, Boy that game sure was awesome.
