Does HD make it a better game?

As far as I have seen, HD hasn't changed a game in quality in graphics from an HD and SD tv. So I was wonder, why is there such a great demand for getting one or that a game can handle HD. I have only tried it on Fallout 3 and some demos with no difference in quality of graphics. In fact Fallout 3 looked even worse in HD then it did in SD. So what about HD makes it better? I ask because I can't seem to find a reason why.

I did notice this much... Dead Alive was designed specifically for HD televisions...
and because of it, I couldn't read any of the subtitles on my 40" tube television.
GREAT FUCKING DESIGN CHOICE

HUGE SCREEN > SMALL SCREEN MANG

But it doesn't really make a difference, Atleast not to me. The bigger the screen, the further I can sit from it.

HD does absolutely nothing but make it more pretty.
Yep. Heck, if the difference between HD and SD actually did anything to the gameplay, then we'd have a serious issue.

I think it would be a good thing if it made games better, because then HD would justify its cost and Sony wouldn't have lost billions of dollars on the PS3.

Theres a big difference if you got the right equipment.

Gameplay wise it doesnt have any effect. Setting a mood and atmosphere it will have a large effect. So you should get a better gaming experience with it.

Graphics don't make a game better let alone high definition.
If people were less obsessed with graphics we might actually get some gameplay which isn't identical to what we all played 10 years ago.
You know I'm all for the argument that developers need to stop paying so much attention to graphics at the expense of gameplay but arguing that a video game is going to be just as good an experience on a TV from the mid-eighties as it is on a crystal-clear modern HDTV straddles the border between absurdity and self-parody.

High definition gaming exists only to make gaming viable for high definition televisions. Have you tried playing a standard definition game on a high definition television?

It doesn't make the game better as such, just a lot clearer visually. Which can help, but mainly just looks awesome!

I think there is a great difference between SD and HD Gaming. Even on a 22'' Monitor the Image is vastly clearer and prettier than on a (bigger) TV.

That said, it does not affect the game itself...much.

Of course, you get a slight advantage in Online Shooters and the developers may get more Space to work with when it comes to presentation (smaller Text for more information, Video-in-Image like Ghost Recon)...but thats about it.

Still, HD is always preferable zu SD (except when it comes to 8 Bit graphics)

It's worse in Condemned 2. You need to read the dialogue and see details to solve puzzles but I couldn't see it on a SD TV.
