No haven't been genuinely scared by a horror movie since I was a kid.Too many horrors rely on gore for shocks these days

Horror seems to have been replaced with gore, which isn't the same thing.

My opinion is that I do find Horror to fit into two general headings, stupid or freaky . I don't see how horror movies are meant to be scary?

I usually don't get scared by horror movies. Sure, the occasional jump from a loud sound or flashing picture, but those are reflexes, not from fear.

Not that long ago, though, late one night, I watched a Japanese movie called Audition. Just before going to sleep. The last scene was, eh, dare I say horrible? Not to spoil anything, but it was really gross, and the thought of something like that happening in real life... Yes, I was scared.

that was a scary film. did you watch it with the cinema ending or the original ending? (the original ending isn't as good)
The first time I watched it was with the original ending, I then watched the alternative ending. I didn't really like either.

I think they should have had the sound of someone walking up the stairs and then having the door slam shut or something and that's the end. Sure, its a "WTF?" ending, but that movie didn't really seem like it needed to have closure at the end, confusion would have been creepier.
